  most people here who have spent any amount of time studying the bible will agree that the bible allows for more than one interpretation of these topics.

  well, the first three topics, anyways.. reading the gay marriage discussions on this board i see a common thread weaving its way through: no acknowledgement whatsoever that there is an equally valid interpretation of the bible that does not condemn homosexuality.. once in a while i will see the word trinity mentioned on this forum and no big deal is made of it (for the most part).

  trinitarian and non-trinitarian teachings are accepted as variations of the christian understanding of the bible without any judgment being made regarding the genuineness of that person's christian identity or relationship with god.. mention the word homosexuality, and there is a huge difference in attitude.

  And, not that it is YOUR responsibility to provide an answer to the question that Phizzy brought up in this thread, and was asked repeatedly in the other threads, nevertheless, the question remains unanswered. In true form, the anti-gay side of this debate simply will not... CAN NOT address the information provided head on because to do so would require them to look at their error in the eye and see it for what it is.

  It's okay. We understand. We all used to be Jehovah's Witnesses so we all know firsthand how the process of ignoring insurmountable evidence works, for the sake of clinging to a belief system we're comfortable with.

  It's okay. Really.

  GMA, Lost... thanks for the thumbs up. It's easy to get lost in all the heat and negativity surrounding this topic and so easy to forget that there are many, many people out there who have our backs.

  The above comment is the finest example of how they simply CAN NOT..... WILL NOT address the evidence provided. They will skirt it, dance around it, side-swipe it, ignore it, try to change it to a different channel... but they are incapable of addressing it head on.

  And then they say, "But I DID answer your question. I'm sorry you can't see it."

  Like the point you brought up, Phizzy: Much information was offered about the words malakoi and arsenokoitais, historical context, etc... It was shown in detail what these word mean, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, don't mean. For the translaters to translate those words broadly as "homosexual" has been demonstrated to be in error. Why can't the unstopableravens, et al. address that point?

  I have begun to not take part on many threads now out of frustration, we seem to have a good number on here who are too lazy to even read the thread, and certainly too lazy to research, and yet they like to pontificate about various matters.

  I'm too frustrated to participate also. It's like trying to have a conversation about sailing around the world with someone who thinks the earth is flat... and refuses to crack open a book. You just have to walk away.

  There is tons of information on the bookshelves about this subject. I quoted from only two books in the threads above. My personal opinion is that they provided the most logical explanation of the scriptures while remaining true TO the scriptures - they didn't try to deconstruct the validity of the bible to make their point. (I found one book that did try to invalidate the bible and a couple other books that had some pretty sloppy reasoning - IMO.) Like any other bible topic, there is not 100% agreement on every last detail in the pro-homosexuality understanding of the bible. But the main points do seem to be agreed upon by those who feel the bible does support Christ-centered, same-sex unions.

  The girls are the tragic victims here. The mother is also somewhat of a victim due to the mind control under which she operates.

  The WTS couldn't care less. Once they catch wind of this story, the first thing that will come to their mind is the oppurtunity to use the girl's experience as a marketing tool, hyping endurance in the face of persecution.

  Once in a while I will see the word TRINITY mentioned on this forum and no big deal is made of it (for the most part). Trinitarian and non-Trinitarian teachings are accepted as variations of the Christian understanding of the bible without any judgment being made regarding the genuineness of that person's Christian identity or relationship with God.

  Mention the word HOMOSEXUALITY, and there is a huge difference in attitude. A clear black line - even among those who take a more "live-and-let-live" approach to the subject. There is no acknowledgement of a variation in a Christian's understanding of the bible. Rather, it is presented as an indisputable fact that the bible condemns homosexuality and that's that, have a nice day... but live your life the way you want because... who cares what the bible says.

  Folks, whether you ultimately conclude the bible allows for Christ-centered, same-sex relationships or not, taking just a little time to do more than a cursory examination of the so-called "clobber passages", the scriptures that supposedly make it SOOooo obvious that homosexuality is condemned by God, you will find that the traditional interpretations are not as firmly based as you think.

  If nothing else, you will walk away with a respect for GAY CHRISTIANS - whose relationships with God are just as valid as those who do or do not believe in the trinity.

  i am 32, old enough to remember being told to refute the big bang as untrue by my parents and the religion they brought me up in.. it was a big decision for me even as a teen, i knew i was choosing a side, i remember my physics teacher laughing and mocking me and the other jw for denying the big bang.

  our parents arranged that in our exams we were allowed to answer questions on the big bang in a unique manner:.

  "scientists claim......... but as a jw i do not subscribe to this belief.".

  You know, I never had a problem with the big bang theory in school AND the Genesis account of creation. The bible says God created the heavens and earth. Period. No details on how. Science theorizes the physical universe came into existence in one massive explosion.

  I don't see a contradiction.

  All I see is paranoia on the part of Religion, Inc. toward anything scientific.
