if your parent(s) / children / siblings / friends apologized after all the years of shunning, can you forgive or has too much damage been done?.

for me it's kind of a double whammy.

got kicked out at age 19 for being gay and disfellowshipped.

just finished reading the segment on setting double standards from in search of christian freedom.

franz gives as an example what is probably the most wanton display of in-your-face hypocrisy.. citing a brochure produced by the legal department designed to help witness parents in child custody battles:.

this can be used to show that they are normal.

i've been dropping little factoids about the wts's history, failed predictions, new light, current interpretations, lawsuits, etc... my housemate hears all this, agrees that it's messed up but it doesn't phase her.. difference in perspective.

my thinking on religion has been molded my whole life to recognize false religion and run from it once identified.

add the personal violations i have endured and the ripping apart of the family and it brings it to a personal level causing me to react with anger at first, followed by a strong determination to keep clear of it for myself and then help others out of the "burning house".

Copyright Issues

one of the points ray franz brought out in both his books is that most of the early literature is out of print and simply unavailable to jehovah's witnesses (or anyone else) today.. would there be any copyright issues involved in setting up a website, or an addition to this website (just a scenario) with a database of all this old leterature?

are writings from 100 years ago considered public domain now?.

i realize it would be a massive undertaking but with so many people contributing literature from their own collections.... .

8 all the law or torah that jehovah inspired moses to write was for this theocratic organization of israel.

so were all the other books that now comprise the hebrew scriptures, or the old testament as some persons refer to them.

Refuting Franz's Crisis of Conscience

i'm about halfway through crisis of conscience.

some pretty extraordinary stuff in there.. wondering, aside from telling people not to read "apostate material", has there been any official denial or refutation of the books contents by the watchtower society, official or otherwise?.

side note: franz is a wonderful writer, if a bit repetitive in places.

regarless of their identity - in fact, if they are really "discreet" their identity should probably remain unknown - do you believe the bible speaks of a spirit annointed class of folks, a limited number of humans that have been called to heaven to serve with jesus?.
