I believe in the bodily resurrection because I believe Jesus Christ was raised up from the dead in the flesh.

The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth - Matt 5:5 anyone?
by punkofnice inon another thread concernedjw used an interesting quote from jesus at matt 5:5 'the meek shall inherit the earth.
' fair comment i'd say.
but jesus didn't say 'paradise' earth.. now i know some of you don't believe in the bible (which i respect), and i'm not after a debate.. what i'm interested to hear is how you would refyte that jesus was not talking about a jw 'paradise earth'.

@ punkofnice
This is a case of a JW not being aware of WT doctrine. The WT itself teaches that "the meek ones" in Matthew 5:5 is referring to Jesus and the anointed who have received the earth as their inheritance.
I got the following info from JWfacts.
- Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 1 p.1201 "The anointed members of the Christian congregation are spoken of as having a heavenly inheritance, sharing Jesus' inheritance as his "brothers." (Eph 1:14; Col 1:12; 1Pe 1:4, 5) This includes the earth.-Mt 5:5." Watchtower 1974 June 15 pp.377-378 "? saying that the 'mild-tempered will inherit the earth.' Yes, those mild-tempered ones who are to be with Christ in his heavenly kingdom will rule over this earth." Watchtower 1959 August 1 p.479 "When Jesus said, as recorded at Matthew 5:5, "Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth," of whom was he speaking?-H. S., U.S.A. Jesus here applied the expression "mild-tempered" or "meek" to his disciples of that time who were in line for the heavenly kingdom. He was the chief meek one among them and their example. Hebrews 1:1, 2 and 2:5, 6 show that Jesus inherits the earth or takes over the possession of it. His disciples were made his joint heirs in the Kingdom and enter into this inheritance or possession of the earth with him. Hence Matthew 5:5 does not strictly apply to the "other sheep.""

Car Full of JW's while I'm at the Car Wash............
by Terry ini'm sort of angry right now.. no, not angry..... i'm shaky.
at least, when i lift my cup of coffee to my lips, sitting here at starbucks, my hand is trembly.. i hate that!.
the power they have to still reach me on some hidden point that hides in the corners of my very being.... .

Sorry to hear that Terry.
As other posters have said, your experience resonates with most of us here. Personally I still find it unnerving going by close to my old KH's territory, when it's probable JWs are around. I purposefully go shopping elsewhere so I don't meet one of their condescending, disappointed stares.
You didn't come off as the angry apostate, on a mission to divert their faith. You were sincere and respectful. Sometimes actions speak louder than words.
And remember: You were out washing your car, they were out promoting a cult...spreading lies.

Thanks for your support JWN!!! Dad dies monday, JW family goes to convention on thursday
by Coffee House Girl incoffee shop guy directed me to his thread...thank you so much everyone for your thoughts of support, it means a lot to have people who understand and show genuine sympathy.
here's my experience so far.... my father dies monday night & my brother (nonjw) calls me to come home, when i arrive my father is still sitting on the couch- all the jw family is sitting in a semi-circle around him, my non jw brother is standing in the next room.
no one is crying, no one is talking.

My sincere condolences for your loss CHG. Sorry to hear about it.
It was nice you could spend quality time with your brother, reminiscing about your father and supporting each other at this time.

i need to know if jehovahs witnesses are actually told to ....
by looloo incompletly ignore disfellowshipped children and never speak at all to them , also what about the children of the disfellowshipped children that are growing up unaware of the "truth " ?
im thinking of writing to my inlaws who have never bothered with our child for two and a half years to tell them to just walk on by if they see us as it would confuse her if they saw us and acted as though nothing has happened .
then they will be good jws and obediant to the watchtower and not blame us for not letting them see her which is what they lie and tell people !.

DF-ed/DA-ed children should be shunned especially if they are above 18 and no longer living under the same roof.

Intolerance Watchtower Style
by Marvin Shilmer inintolerance watchtower style .
today i uploaded a new article to my blog showing how watchtower betrays its bigotry.
as it turns out, watchtower has published an illustration showing bigotry, and the illustrated behavior is precisely how watchtower treats its own.

@ LITS - I just read this thread and your post # 1117 is absolutely powerful. It's so moving reading about the victim's powerlessness and the injustice of the system. It truly makes your blood boil. I'm sorry you lived through it.
@ A sphereisnotacircle - Really sorry to hear about your experience too!
