Witnesses, I became aware of how crafty the false teachers were. Information

taken out of context was their ‘strong evidence’ against us. Thus, I decided to start

reading our publications again and to attend the meetings. Soon I realized how

much I had missed.” Happily, Andre returned to the congregation."

this article from the newspaper in the latrobe area reffering to steven unthanks case is truly disturbing.

its an affront and an insult to any and everyone who has participated in the ministry of jehovah`s witnesses over many, many years.talk about being thrown to the wolves.how low can this organization go in saving face at the expense of those whose loyalty and devotion is discarded for a perceived image.absolutely shocking.

I distinctly remember from Pioneer School one important aspect of conducting Bible studies was directing them to the Organization.

When asked when we should start mentioning the Organization, our CO said: Asap, even from the first study session.

In practice this included inviting studies to the meetings, special talks, memorial, assemblies, etc. Additionally bringing different brothers/sisters in the study to acquaint the person with the brotherhood. Showing them the KH and it's parts (literature counter, main hall, etc.). Taking the studies to Bethel for a taste of the organization in action. And how about watching the videos with them (JWs -- The Organization behind the name) or the newer ones about the History of the organization?

How can all these efforts not be centering around the organization?

i just had some random thoughts and questions and decided it might be tiresome to start a different thread for each one, so i'm consolidating.. suppose someone had a sign showing a picture of a gun pointed at you and a caption saying "this shun gun is pointed at you.

" then suppose this sign was shown to visiting jehovah's witnesses without saying a single word.

how do you think they would react?.

The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry has this to say:

"It is the doctrine that there is only one God, not three, and that the one God exists in three persons: Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father isn't the same person as the Son, the Son isn't the same person as the HS, etc."

Modalism would be the nontrinitarian belief that God is a single person who throughout the Bible has revealed himself in 3 modes or forms, first as the Father in the OT, next as the Son at the incarnation, and after Jesus' ascension as the HS.

yes, the may 15th watchtower is now available for download from jw.org.. the final study article, on page 26, directs another salvo at apostates - and warns witnesses not to try arguing with them on the internet:.

indeed, we ought to move as far away from wrongdoing as possible and not see how close we can get to it without being overcome by sin.

for instance, we need to guard against succumbing to apostasy, a sin that would make us unfit to glorify god.

Cedars, thanks for bringing up this article...

On one hand the fact they're bringing up apostasy & internet so often lately makes me hope that more people are questioning the Society and this is affecting their status in the org.

One the other hand, this isn't good for hardcore JWs...who'll now be reminded to shut down their senses to any comment that might make them start to THINK.

And doesn't the scripture below from Matthew 7:6 being applied to apostates qualify as hate speech?

"Do not give what is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before swine, that they may never trample them under their feet and turn around and rip you open."

Latest Watchtower page 30... They have some nerve to put this!

one thing that i have always noticed even when i was a jw is that the jw org has lots and lots and lots of rules for allsorts of stupid petty rules which make no difference.

when you read the bible you see how they are clearly in the wrong here and are acting like the pharisees themselves, who imposed so much pressure on others to conform to the law.

am i missing something here!?!?

Questions for meditation: Does the governing body seek to lay down arbitrary, inflexible rules or to turn their personal opinions into law? Are they reasonable in what they expect of others?

Arbitrary or inflexible rules

How about parents shunning their own son/daughter...

Organ transplants, vaccines and presently blood transfusions being considered unacceptable? Is that reasonable to expect adherence to these rules if the person faces loss of life?

Every witness must preach...otherwise they're not real Christians

Petty rules

Beards not okay

Pants aren't okay for sisters at the KH

and couples shouldn't hold hands during prayers...whoever thought that was a stumbling for others

you may be a jw ........if you spent last saturday traped in a car with at least 4 other people you may be a jw.. if you have sat through a sheparding call where you were told you are unworthy you may be a jw.. if you have alienated your worldly relatives with your preaching you may be a jw.. if you have ticked some one of buy knocking on their door on one of their religous holidays you may be a jw.. if you think the governing body is goods direct channel you may be a jw.. if you have no clue when this system is going to end you may be a jw.. .

you didn't go to college/uni and if you did you weren't very 'normal' at the KH.

you didn't buy gifts for Christmas but loved boxing day sales.

your "holidays" included driving 400 kms to a not-so-popular tourist destination just to hear the same rhetoric for 3 days.

and last but not least...

you may be a jw if you ever hated saturday mornings.

What a pious and sanctimonious organisation!!! GROAN!

just having a rant.. it has been over 6 months now since i was disfellowshipped for being gay or whatever it was, and i still do not give a damn.

it hasnt fazed me one bit.

we even went on our first holiday to italy the other week.

Sorry to hear about this Tim. I've been in that situation months ago. After DAing I started attending a non denom. church and I'm happy with it. When I told a family member (still very much in) she was extremely disappointed that I'd attended a church.

I think it's very hard for a JW to accept that any part of Christendom has anything to offer in the spiritual department. As you say they're truly a "pious and sanctimonious" organisation. JW's think of their "meat in due time" as 5 star chef food, while all the others are serving garbage...

So how dare you have that junk after having enjoyed the delicious "food" from the F & D slave cooks? JWs would rather see you starving.

Furthermore this JW family member started openly insulting people from church (as a group!), though she's never met any of them. "If they were truly good people, studying the Bible they'd be at the KH...Talk about unchristian, judgmental attitude.
