Lore, I would agree with number three, but without the part you bolded.
Do you mean number 2?
Just checking.
how could judas be blamed, for an action pre-planned by god.
wasn't he destined?, what are your views on the matter?.

Sort of like when we can see the consequences coming for our own children's actions, but our children can't.
Except it goes way farther than just that.
Yeah if your son is already 17 years old and doing drugs and stealing you can extrapolate into the future and assume he'll shortly be in jail or dead.
But according to Christians Yahweh predicted the specifics, all the way down to the exact price, hundreds or thousands of years before he was born.
There are 4 possibilities here:
1: Yahweh caused it to happen and violated Judas' free will by forcing him to accept the bribe.
2: It really is possible to predict exactly what someone is going to do thousands of years before they are born, in which case free will is an illusion.
3: Yahweh threw out a random guess about what was going to happen and just got SUPER lucky on the details.
4: It's actually just a myth.

If the bible stories are true, then they didn't have to be sneeky about arresting him. Jesus' little stunt with the whip and turning over the tables was enough to get him arrested. You don't need to make up false charges for that.
You also don't need someone to point him out, this guy has been going around rezzing people and teaching for 3 years, it shouldn't be that hard to find someone who can recognise his face.
men are turning to a life of carefree homosexuality to avoid the expense of wives and children, it has emerged.. .
a sharp drop-off in the men's grooming market has been linked to heterosexual men growing the thick facial hair which they believe will make them enticing to other males.. civil engineer, bill mckay, said: "with the economy unlikely to improve in the near future, there's no way i can afford nice dresses and designer chocolates, let alone the school uniforms and hefty tuition fees that are the eventual consequence of those bribes.. "alternately, if i bag myself a hairy builder then not only will he have no interest in cath kidston products, but also he can build my extension for free while we share interesting sport-related banter and laugh at the peter kaye jokes in nuts magazine.".
he added: "i suppose we'd have to have sex at some point.
Wait, poverty causes homosexuals?
Here all this time I thought it was masturbation, porn, sleeping on your back and watching Disney movies.

the federal public ministry at ceara, brazil, on july 14, 2011 filed a civil action against the religion of jehovah's witnesses in the 8th federal court for practicing religious discrimination against former members.
prosecutor nilce cunha rodrigues has taken on official representation of sebastian oliveira (ramos) who, after being expelled from the religion was discriminated against by colleagues, friends and relatives, including his mother, in accord with norms of the jehovahs witnesses who are headed by a governing body of the watchtower society.
You guys seem pretty anxious to toss out your freedoms if it means screwing the WT society.
What if the shoe was on the other foot and the Brazilian government was fining apostates for speeking out against the watchtower?
The laws in America that give the Watchtower the ability to spread their lies and instruct families to shun each other, are ALSO the same laws which give you the right to tell everyone that the Watchtower society is evil and should be avoided.
If someone you loved was beginning to study with the witnesses, wouldn't you tell them it's in their best interest to stop studying? Well that's religious discrimination, but it's your right. And I don't think we should be so happy to see those rights violated just because it's happening to someone else.
I realise the laws are different in Brazil. . . but maybe they shouldn't be.

On the one hand I'm happy that Brazil is doing something about this obviously evil practise.
On the other hand I think everyone has the right to preach any kind of intollerant crap they want. To prevent them from instructing witnesses to shun family members is in fact a violation of basic human rights that I don't want to see violated. And I can't support the Brazilian government in this.
But if anyone is gonna get their human rights violated, I'm glad it's the witnesses.
in the book mankind's search for god, the wt says the following:.
the oldest portion of the bible predates all of the world's other religious writings.
- chapter 1, paragraph 27.. .
This doesn't make sense even in their own religion.
They believe Moses wrote the oldest books of the bible while he was in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. And according to the witnesses: Egypt already had a lot of gods while the Hebrews were enslaved, some of which Jehovah put to shame with the 10 plagues.
So I'm not sure how they can even claim that, when their own religion puts the earliest bible book at only 3,500 years ago, centuries after the flood.
Not to mention the fact that even if it were the oldest that doesn't mean it's right. And they'll agree with that conclusion when they realize that some other religious text is older.
Suddenly when it's NOT the bible that's the oldest, the age of the book doesn't matter anymore. Ain't that funny?
when a jw tells you that, show them this:.
june 15, 1964 watchtower.
page 365. parargraph 22. .
Yeah. . . but. . . the words "We are prophets" did not appear in that paragraph. It just said that they are 'carrying out prophesying'.
You know, it's the same way with murderers. They can say: "I've carried out multiple murders" but as long as they've never said the words: "I'm a murderer" the label doesn't apply.
that would be pretty awesome.
knowing what you know now about the watchtower and the cult.
you wake up and you're back in time when it all started.. it would make a great twighlight zone episode..
Wouldn't really help me much. Lets say I went back to when I was 9, It'd be cool, but since my parents and siblings are still witnesses it would just mean I'd have to be 'in the closet' for another 13+ years.
Plus when your 9, it doesn't matter how compelling your argument is, the answer is always: 'You'll change your mind when you're older"
Also since I'm not really sure how I acted when I was 9 I wouldn't be able to fake it. So the major personality change would probably make them think I have some kind of a mental disorder and, being 9 I wouldn't have any legal say in the matter, so I'd probably end up being put on a bunch of drugs to make me act more like a normal 9 year old. . . .
Naturally I'd know there's nothing wrong with me, so I'd refuse to take the meds, and then I'd be one of those crazy people who refuse to take their medicine. And to convince them I'm not insane I'd probably start predicting the future for them.
So that'd be 12 years ago. I could predict upcoming episodes of Star Trek Voyager and Spongebob to convince them I can predict the future! This would probably just make them think I'm posessed.
I'd be able to predict 9/11, but it wouldn't be confirmed for another 2 years, plus I'd end up feeling like a complete waste of life if I could only predict it and was unable to stop it.
HOPEFULLY I could get my parents or grandparents or SOMEONE to believe me enough to invest a pile of money into Google as soon as possible. Aside from that I'd be pretty much stuck until I'm 18 again.
i was just reading a funny thread posted by fallen_princess about stupid jw directives and something about seat saving came up....it reminded me of how i foiled the crime of seat saving at conventions....i would just save every other seat and it usually worked saving every third seat....i mean who walks in and picks a seat where you have to sit next to sombody else??
?...............i loved breaking rules i guess..................oompa.
Here's why everyone needs to save some extra seets.
1: The place is never full anyway. They normally have like 3 entire sections roped off behind the stage that nobody is allowed to sit in.
2: Normally the place is designed as a sporting event. People sit there in normal clothes eating hot dogs which they buy at the stands outside. They don't have to pack a lunch, and they don't have to worry about getting food juice all over their good clothes. Eating while at a convention requires extra storage and room that isnt allowed for by the design of the building. You NEED an extra seet to store your lunchbag and books.
If they would allow you to LEAVE for lunch like normal people, this wouldn't be a problem.
