Just found out a Witness works with me-ruined my day

i work in an elementary school as a very low paid teacher's aide.

of course, most of the staff are teachers who are paid three times my salary and have at least a college degree, many with a master's.

every day i have to face the fact that i followed the "godly wisdom" from the gb and didn't get higher education (except the degree equivalent from reading all the wts and awakes-i haven't gone to personnell to see how that would work out).. this morning, a fellow aide that i rarely see was coming in the door at the same time i was.

It's wild how things like this can be so upsetting. Im sorry.

I was telling a friend today about how I'm proud of my older sister for recently becoming a Zumba teacher. She was perplexed when I explained that higher education was strongly discouraged, and that my sister has been a waitress for 20 years. So Im proud that she took it a step further to become an aerobics teacher. Then my friend said how she knew of somebody (who is 6 years younger than me) who was a jw who went to the community college. THEN I had to explain how the society let up on their "rules" for a couple years but now they are strict again.

I feel so ridiculous when I have to explain the moronic teachings of the jw's, and it still gets me so pissed off even though I've been faded for many years

i know all about putting people in various categories so that they can't see certain things.

for instance, my clients cannot see certain photos (like from my bff's bachelorette party...hahhaha).

jw's cannot see my religious preference.

Thanks Nugget. That is exactly what I was asking. I suppose you're right.... what a hassle Its not even my mother that Im super worried about...its other JW's that are in the same category as she is.

EmptyInside, I did exactly what you suggested beforehand....but it didnt appear to work. When I logged out of my own profile and then re-logged into Mama's, it still showed my comments.

Charlie Brown, its the Paradise Recovered page....not really a "silly" page. lol...and my comment was serious, regarding how I was able to escape the cult. Not something I am ready for jw's to see.

philiPonos...ummm, no offense, but you kinda sound like a loser. lol. I dont spend tons of time on there, but prob more than I should.

Im the one who helped my mom set up her account. thats how I know the password.

It *is* a pain that I have to hide aspects of the apostate life. Bummer. Thanks for trying to help though

I have a category that most people are in, including my jw mother. I have access to her profile, and I logged in under her name today. From her profile, I could see that SHE can see that I recently posted a comment on an apostate fb page. WTF. I don't know how to hide that without making it so she can't see anything of mine. Does this make sense, and do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

mothers day can bring up many issues for some of us.

for some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say i love you in person is forever lost.

for others our mothers are lost to the borg.

I got into trouble in 2nd grade for making a Mother's Day gift. "We dont want to participate in anything the world does" was the explanation. Simple enough, but it still hurt my feelings. Years and years of trying to do good things, but getting into trouble by jw's. Ugh...the "world" would've thought

I was an awesome kid.

My mother is in chemical need of meds because of her bipolar and manic psychosis disorders...but she believes its just everyone else against her. she thinks we all want to squelch her eccentric personality (to me, its narcississtic, child-like behavior).

Happy Mother's Day to those ladies who actually acted more like a mother figure than my own mother did

We had one slipped under our door a few weeks ago....not sure who left it. Then a week ago, 2 "sisters" dropped by. Its so annoying...Im about to have a baby in a couple months & we have 2 huge dogs. Nobody EVER drops by unexpectadly except for these idiots. If they come by and my baby is sleeping & they make my dogs bark...there will be hell to pay. I was nice but did not take the pamphlet from them, as we already had one too many in the house.

Oh, and then 2 nights ago, we were having some beautifully hot weather so I had all the windows and doors open (with screens). I thought I heard my husband pull in the driveway from work, and I just stayed in my chair. My normally-quite-friendly dog ran to the front door. I saw "my husband" pass by the window out of the corner of my eye, but then he didn't open the door which I found was weird. And nobody knocked. My dog started snarling, which is unlike him. Then my mean dog ran to the front door....I am so thankful she didn't jump through the screen, she was LIVID.

So I got up and cautiously went to the door. It was a jw who wanted to 'personally invite my hubby to the memorial'. I used to be a jw & Im not df'd or da'd...but they know Im NEVER going back. lol. I am so shocked but thankful my dog didnt attack him....I REALLY WISH THOSE IDIOTS WOULD NOT DROP BY!!!!

So long story short, we received one actual invite, but were verbally invited 4 times (my sibling also invited me over the phone)

What was your most embarassing WTF experience with a fanatical witness??

we've all known those fanatical witnesses who are guilty of pdf (public display of faith) and always have to make a big song and dance to the whole world and let everyone and their dog know they're a faithful witness of jay hoover!.

1) when my mother first came in 'da troooof' this wacky, over zealous 'sister' was studying with her - you know the type.

this woman was one of those not so subtle individuals who would always talk loud in conversation and say the name jehovah a million times even when the conversation could have been about basketball.

I was in high school. I was a true believer, but I was also struggling with a lot of guilt and was on my way "out" before I realized it. A

JW girl from my congregation confronted the hoTT, rebel boy that I had a total crush on . She said something like, "If you had a car and it started

making a loud rattling sound, would you stop and figure out the problem, or would you simply turn the radio to a higher volume?"

My heart stopped completely when I heard her say that because I knew that it came straight from the Awake we were placing that month. He

said he'd turn the radio up higher and ignore the sound. lol...that kinda threw her off because it was supposed to lead into some jw nonsense.

Unfortunately, she still managed to get her point across and offer him the latest Awake....meanwhile, I was cringing & wishing I were under a rock.

Considered rebellious because I choose to think for myself

hi all, this is my first post.

but i was one of those kids that was born into the whole jw thing, and like a good little witness kid i did everything i was supposed to do to please my parents (mainly my mom my dad's an unbeliever).

my mom was very strict with me when it came to everything they taught, no holiday parttys at school, no sports, no worldy friends, i was only supposed to associate with other jw kids (my mom is one of those extremist jws, she says she doesn't judge, but she's a perfect example of one one of those sisters with the holier than thou attitude).

the elders called me friday night, and i hung up the phone.

you see i changed my voicemail to the automatic message just in case someone calls me who i do not want to talk to and i want them to think they might have the wrong number.

when my phone went off i answered hello how can i help you?

Just remember that, at one point in time, we may have done the same thing your sister did. Not sure how close you two always were, but it could

possibly be pure concern for your wellbeing. She doesn't realize that she is brainwashed. My dad did the same thing to me when I moved to a different town. I was furious at the time. But really, I probably did the same thing many years ago as well.
