  Its not about the $ for the cult, People who go to college, will have their minds opened,They will have ideas that will conflict, and show the cult for what it is. Education is the light that shows the cult for what it is, and the cult can not stand with this kind of scrutiny.

  Just like the church of scientology, they do not allow their people to even surf the net, with out the program they have developed installed on their members systems. the program blocks any site that is critical of their cult. The society does not have this type of software but does denture their members from using the internet. And tells them to run, if they start to see or hear anything that is critical of the the society.

  The society would love their member to make more $, but they would rather have members that make 9k a year, than members that make 50k a year and move away from the cult. Or worse yet, start to tell others in the cult that the king has no clothes.

  i think most posters here, being exjw's probably celebrate thanksgiving.

  even loyal jw's actually do, even though they are careful to tell anyone seeing that big turkey with all the fixins, "we aren't really celebrating thanksgiving, but everyone could get together today".

  i recently went to a wedding and the father of the bride that (re)married a (worldly) man said to me, "the only thing that i can say about raising our kids as witnesses was at least they got a good foundation.

  My reason for leaving started when the "generation" was getting very old and dying off. I asked every elder, ms, and any one who would talk to me, what the society was going to do if the "generation died off, and was told it would not happen. the end was neigh.

  I replied to every one I talked to that I would stay with the society until I saw what was going to happen with the "generation of 1914" I was told by all not to worry that the end would be here before then.

  Then in 95, we got a tower that did the DC two step worthy of a DC beltway elected official. They just changed the meaning of Generation. WTF I said. ENOUGH!!!!!!!

  That is when the internet started to come on, and I started to search. So for me the Internet was there the same time I went a looking. And found wonderful things. I pulled back the curtain and saw the stupid old FU#$ pulling the levers. And out the door I went.

  i haven't been to meetings in a long time (trying to fade).

  ever so often i do run into a witness or 2 who are friendly, but reserved (after all i am considered in active).

  anyway, my hubby & i are currently working on a letter to send to the society that will more then likely get us df'd or disassociated (same thing i guess).

  i get the feeling the society is gonna suffer a huge loss of number, with people who are in getting old, those 'raised' in the so called truth leaving and less and less interested ones because more people are aware.. .

  it has its ups and downs but it seems the ups aren't as big as they used to, some never recovered from 1975 and others from the 1995 generation thingy.. your thoughts?.

  I have seen the dubber talking heads run in to problems before, 1975, watched how many sold what they had,quit their jobs, all waiting for the big bang that never came. and then got shot down for expecting the very thing they were told to expect. And the dogs went back to eat its own vomit. I don't think you will see the dubbers cult go down, that would be to much to expect. Remember what P.T Barnum said, there is sucker born every minute. dubber,sucker, all the same thing.

  Another Deceitful Tactic by the WTBTS.

  as most informed jehovah's witnesses know, the wtbts is very good at painting a pretty picture of themselves by cleverly wording things to outsiders, yet not revealing the specifics of their beliefs.. below is an example from their official website regarding whether or not they shun members who choose to leave them.

  they do not tell the public of the interogation they impose on members who wish to quietly leave ( fade ).. notice they mention how they are more than happy to restore those who exit, but fail to mention the types of questions they ask to those who leave them.. while they admit they shun those who verbally express they no longer wish to be a jehovahs witness, they do not tell the public they coerce that very statement from those who try to leave peacefully and quietly.
