  Around the time of the big bethel layoff, when was that, 6 or 7 years ago?, each bethelite had to sign a form that allowed the bethel office to have access to their medical records. Ones that did not want to sign were made to think or were told they would be kicked out if they didn't, and they probably were. My friends, a couple at the farm did not want to sign but did, they were kicked out anyway. I also knew a sister in Conn. who was some kind of a counselor, don't remember what her credentials were, most of her business were sisters from Brooklyn and Wallkill.

  Jookbeard, I've always wondered if some heavies have figured out how to make personal profit off the corp. I know for a fact (and people involved) that some in purchasing have had no problem accepting kickbacks (I know paid for vacations, possibly cars) by directing work to certain contractors. I believe a lot of these corp heavies have such prideful swollen heads they are able to do that without any twinge of conscience, feeling that they are so smart and intelligent they earned it.

  I've said before that I think the lawyers run the corp. When the GB is willing to allow a long held and absolute doctrine like blood to be chopped up, watered down, and made way less relevant do they really believe it's because it's what the Master or Jeh wants? It's for the legal protection of the corp and they know that. And it's the lawyers they depend on to protect the corp not Jeh. I would say they have to know that they are not making decisions based on their deep insight into Jeh's word. I can imagine when they all meet and are discussing different issues the most popular phrase that can be heard is 'let's check with legal on that.' They would have to know that divine revelation or their own deep insight should not have to be OK'D by legal. So I would say that they at least know that they are not truthful with the publishers as to how the org is run. Years ago I was working out in service with a circuit overseer, we were talking about "new light," he said to me that if they ever change a "core doctrine" he would be the first one out the door. I don't remember that particular CO, but I do sometimes wonder if he is still a JW.

  New F&DS Light question

  i have a question about the implications of the new light regarding the f&ds.

  sorry if it sounds complicated, i'm not good at explaining things.. .

  if the f&ds is now just the few brothers who get together to dispense the food at the proper time, and the f&ds will be appointed over all of christ's belongings, then does that mean they will be appointed above the rest of the 144,000 when they go to heaven?

  AND, what is the status of the GB in relation to the already ruling ressurected 144,000 kings and priests? Have they decided that? The more JW doctrine becomes confused and complicated the more convinced I become it's not the truth. It all comes down to the GB trying to make bible doctrine fit Watchtower wrong chronology and wrong understanding while at the same time Wat legal is trying to steer the corporation around and away from legal potholes. The result of that is their new light.

  what sort of things does the wbts pay for, on a worldwide basis?.

  - i understand that khs are owned and funded locally, at least where the locals can afford them, but what about in poor areas?.

  The money spent on bethelites, do's and co's, branches,...........all the cost of doing business. Keeping up the enthusiam to attend conventions and assemblies, make contributions and build halls to keep the money rolling in. Then, that money is not use in any way to benefit the flock or humanity, it is used to expand and build extravagant corporate headquarters. Hudson Valley NY

  JW's in a sports bar

  so i'm 2000+ miles from home on a mission for work.

  out to lunch with three other guys from the company, in a sports bar on a sunday about 3:00-4:00 pm.

  crowded, not a roudy place, nice.

  This thread took on a life of it's own. When I started it I was just thinking of how I was observing all those witnesses, in their meeting clothes, looking somewhat out if place in a sports bar. Only saw that the father across from me was a cheap tipper. My dad, a witness is a big tipper. No doubt the good and bad tippers in the Org are a reflection of society.

  i dropped by metro pcs the other day.

  i was intrigued by a sign that said: "unlimited talk and text-- $25 per month".. i went inside and one of the very, very young sales girls showed me a 4g phone metro has on sale until december 31st for $79.

  they also have a 4g plan for unlimited talk, text and date for $30 per month, if you walk into one of their stores.
