  so...i'm still working on my paper for law school regarding jws and the mature minor doctrine, and i am in desperate need of the most recent (or relatively recent) cd-rom so i can document my sources.

  well, i was considered spiritual enough (lol) to be given a red badge that said "special meeting, united states branch zone visit" on it!

  what a privilege!

  all excited, i counted down (not really but you know) to the day the meeting was going to be held on, which was the 22nd.

  I went to the last one of these a few years ago. I remember it being much the same, very anti-climactic...and I was still asleep inside the Org back then too and never dreamed then that I would read Ray's books and be posting on here.

  Not much changes in the WT world other than the definition of "generation" lol.

  How would you assess the intelligence level of the individual GB members?

  i know there's really no way to tell who has the highest or lowest iq of those on the current governing body or even who exhibits more thinking ability or more knowledge of wt bs.

  but many of you have heard talks from these clowns at district assemblies throughout the us and abroad over the years... others here have seen the 2010 dvd "faith in action" or have seen youtube videos of gb members dispensing meat in due season... so i'm curious to know what your personal assessmenment is of the 7 stooges currently living in brooklyn heights.... here's my personal assessment... (from dumbest to least dumb).

  guy pierce (completely clueless)anthony morrisgerrit loschstephen lettsam herdgeoffrey jacksondavid splane (knows enough wt bs to hold his own)again, i know this is a subjective assessment, but i would really like to know your opinion on who you believe has been dumbed down the most by the wt and who has been dumbed down the least.... thanks!.

  Alfred - I am NOT an apologist for these guys in any way shape or form. They have allowed themselves to be "caught up in the concept" and ought to know better. They should grow the cajones to work for change and fix the things their predecessors bungled.

  That said, I knew Bro Pierce fairly well. He served our congregation when he was in the traveling work, and he taught my pioneer school so I talked with him every day for those two weeks. He is incredibly smart, has a great sense of humor, and was an outstanding public speaker. He had all of us totally lost when he was talking about how to calculate the memorial by simply watching the moon and stars- the "Guy" is sharp... or at least he was when I knew him.

  i recently published an article on my blog about the mythical villian procrustes (pronounced: proh-kruhs-teez) and how he and the wt have something in common.

  notice the assertion made regarding 1 corinthians 1:10 in this magazine quote:.

  now if anyone comes into the congregation to try to upset adherence to that true word of god and causes stumbling or a division in the congregation, it is necessary to avoid that one.

  UPDATE: The Web of Trust folks have been great and JWStruggle.com is no longer a "dangerous" website and is now in the green category.

  After submitting an explanation of what JWS is about two of their forum members investigated the site, gave some suggestions, and said there is no reason for it to be considered objectionable.

  I submitted a request for examination to WOT and am waiting to see if they can explain why the site is considered "dangerous". The only thing I can think of is that a JW rated it as dangerous due to considering it an "apostate website". Anyway, here is what I submitted in the online form to them:

  My wordpress blog is a spiritual support site for sincere people that have become disillusioned by their membership in the Jehovah's Witness religion. It is to help them figure out and get through their crisis of conscience. It contains no pop-ups, advertisements, hateful speech, foul language, pernicious web code, etc.

  I have received many thank you emails and comments from hundreds of folks that appreciate it. Yet recently someone brought to my attention that it had a "bad reputation" on WOT and I can't understand why. If something needs to be fixed or changed please let me know and I will fix it!

  Letter read to Victorian congregations re WCC

  had an interesting chat with my ex re the current debate over working with children checks - of which she has one due to her volunteering at our childrens primary school.

  i remember when she had to apply that i made the comment elders & mss should be having background checks due to the history of abuse in the borg and covering up (these discussions normally dont go down well as she is well and truly blinded, well meaning, but blinded).. anywho, she told me about the recent letter that was read to all the victorian congregations, she couldnt tell me verbatim what it said, though the gist was that is no real need for elders to get this check, but rather they are complying with what has been asked legally.. now i dont know if what she said next was based on the letter read or the after discussions at the k/hall, but she made the comment the elders do not need the wcc as they are not strangers, they are our brothers... i tried reasoning that another elder who moves in from interstate is certainly a stranger, until you get to know him on a personal level.

  didnt matter how i reasoned or what incidents i bought up, the view amongst her and the other mums that she hangs around in the cong is that the elders getting a wcc check is totally unnecessary and that the jws are being picked on.. next week, i am meeting up with a mate who is an elder here in victoria and trying to step down, so will pick his brains and see if he can get a copy.... .

  Mattieu nice observations and reasoning- it is hard to have your wife's JW Armor go up and every bit of logic to be deflected, I know...

  @Teary - I'm aware that the "Web of Trust" extension rates the site badly- but have not been able to figure out why... There is no nefarious code at all it is just a wordpress blog...

  @TheTrueOne - You said "Why does the WTS. never announce within their organization their own financial balances and accounts?" They actually do include a very brief report on the money spent on COs, missionaries, etc. every year in the yearbook. Not much but they do throw out some numbers.
