Self-Driving vehicles and delivery robots - why?
by FadeToBlack ini saw a 'news' article today about pizza hut (i think) delivering pizzas via a robotic vehicle in nz.
also another article headline saying it is not a question of if, but when.
my immediate thought was, why?

Automatic cars indeed will probably be much safer. Drivers in public transportation might also be replaced by remote supervisors, similar to how the air force pilots are flying drones. and corporations have no intent in preservation of low end jobs, that is a worry for politicians. and for witnesses who are strongly admonished to miss out on university education -

Forgiveness Yesterday, Today and Forever
by Cold Steel ini was just watching the jw broadcasting network and the topic being discussed was forgiveness.
the fellow presenting the topic was talking a brother who had sinned many years ago.
he finally came clean with the local elders, accepted his discipline and got on with his life.

There are people who need to unload their conscience and there are others who do not have this need. The watchtower likes to misuse this need to establish their power. Honestly, if you have something on your chest, it is way better to confide in a trustworthy friend than onto elders who are instructed to retaliate if you do not behave like a sheep.
And yes, the witnesses baptize convicted and suspected murderers. They have special assigned brothers who study with prisoners.

The most complete answer to the 'where else to go' question is written by Ray Franz in 'in search for christian freedom. Entirely in agreement with the bible.
The belief system that Jesus founded was existing out of loosely connected churches (or congregations if you like), and no centralized organization. So if you are looking for a 'true' religion as per the bible, it must be a hard to notice group. The churches mentioned in the bible were not uniform in their beliefs and their acts, however Jesus did not condemn them for this, neither did Paul. There is a framework that needs to be the same (Jesus as messiah, gave his life for us,...) others are optional. However both Jesus and Paul also showed the options have boundaries, such as sleeping with your fathers wife is not to be tolerated.
their most outstanding mark should be love amongst themselves and love for their fellowmen, NOT the preaching work. That's what the bible says. If you are looking for a group that is known for their preaching, automatically that won't be the right one. Neither Jesus, his disciples, apostles, or Paul went EVER from door to door. And if you have ever been to the middle east, you will immediately know why: it would make you look as if you are trying to hide something. If you want to attract an audience out there, you have to go to the market place or square, and start talking. If there are people interested they will invite you to their own house. If you take the emphatic diaglott (published by the Watchtower) you will find that in the original Greek text, there is no support for the Watchtowers way of preaching. So then using this way of preaching as your touchstone, you will never find the 'true religion'

Has a 'Christian' ever murdered somebody?
by goddidit ina jw made the claim "no christian [jw] has ever murdered anyone".. when i showed examples of such, the goalposts moved a bit with "was he a baptized, dedicated witness?".
can anyone provide examples of murders committed by "baptized, dedicated" jws?.
thanks.

Roughly 5 years ago a brother got stabbed to death by another brother in a kingdom hall in Germany. the congregation is close to bethel, and at least one bethelite was present at the occurrence. The killer committed suicide the same day

How do I handle this situation?
by BarelyThere inhey everyone.
i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.
there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

There is always the possibility that your ex knows you will eventually read this messages. In that case it is just a part in taking revenge. I would not use it or mention it as long as you are DF'd. it will turn against you.
Unless you start slacking, eventually you will be reinstated. No matter in this or another Congo. For adultery, minimum one year, probably 1.5 or 2. If you were at all meetings during 2 years, and reinstated, you can take other actions. Writing the CO,... I would NEVER bring up these messages as long as you are DF'd. It will only be used against you. However after reinstatement, it could be useful to let the MS know you have some skeleton in a closet that can come out anytime, unless they leave you alone,... or something along those lines

Elder School Video
by dontfitin inhope you guys can help me find something.
there was a video circulating about three years ago showing a sample judicial meeting, which basically ended up with the other elders slamming the one guy who was trying to be somewhat merciful.
of course the person was df'd.. my husband said at the meeting they actually had a talk saying that now the elders look for any reason not to df, etc.,etc.. i am trying to find that video.

Elders always say to their spouses and the rank and file that disfellowshipping is the last resort. That is the same as the WTBS saying to the outside world they have no policy of not reporting child abuse to the authorities. Both are lies. You might get a slap on the wrist if you had sex one time and then go on your knees to the elders. But the chances for this young man who had sex multiple times, and only comes to the elders hen sh*t hits the fan, has almost no chance whatsoever. Not coming straight to the elders after the 1st offence is seen as putting their God-given position into question... no forgiving that one... -

You believe these stories or not. Entirely up to you. There is however no factual element that disproves it. Point. Just use your brains. If it is not true, it will come out. If it is true, it will be confirmed. 2 witnesses rule, anyone... For now, I would give John Aquila Brown the benefit of the doubt. Cheers Hoff -

The Dutch bethel has laid off 25%. My uncle (in his 50ies) is moving out, a former friend (in his 30ies) is allowed to stay. I guess I do not need to state that some skills not learned by the WTBS play a significant role. -
