So, USR, as I understand your position:
* Abortions are horrible and far too many happen
* Very rarely abortions are justifiable, but you are not clear on these boindaries
* to address the problem, society needs to

as far as illegal, like drugs some ppl will find a way, so possibly strict crimanal consquneces
Personally I doubt that someone desperate enough to face an illegal abortion would be deterred by threats of punishment
do you believe cocaine should be legal?
I'm not sure where you're going with this, except to illustrate the ineffectiveness of just making something illegal?
Then who should have the authority to override the mother's wishes, and under what circumstances? If education is needed, there must be a specific message and desired outcome.
Are you saying we should legislate against abortion? OK then, under what circumstances is it allowable, and what would be done to prevent illegal abortions?
From USR's second post on this thread:
why are we as society not doing more?
So, USR, what "more" should we as a society do? I don't think you have addressed jgnat's suggestions?

i understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?
In reply to SFPW:
Faithful Witness , those verses in Matt have absolutely nothing to do with why Jehovah's Witnesses report field service time. Likewise those verses don't shed a negative light on why Circuit Overseers or Elders pay attention to the activities of active publishers in the congregation.
Rejection without a reason.
Years ago, the hours spent and the literature placed, was put on display for the whole congregation to see. If that were still the case, than MAYBE I would see how you could apply Matt 6:1-4 to what we're discussing.
So the verses DID apply?
To the contrary, field service activity recorded on time slips is submitted discreetly, and only the Elder Body, and CO have access to those numbers.
And here comes the classic Watchtower doublespeak. Does Matt 6 1:4 say "men" or "all men"? Are Elders and COs men or not? After all they are quickly identified as "imperfect men" when they slip up. . .
SFPW, you either lack logic skills or are being deliberately disingenious.

*written without a head covering :) *
just answer this question in an honest and unbiased way, free from any circuitous reasoning or speculation.
if you do so, i swear to my heavenly father, that i will call the elders tonight and turn myself in.
any active jw may answer this question.
SFPW says Truth is relative in the sense and trajectory of time.
Really? The "Truth" that the wt capitalises? The "Truth" that a baptised jw can be df'd and shunned for questioning?
SFPW, look up what truth really means. Yes, our level of understanding is limited and can and will change. But what we understand is just that. Not "truth". And especially not "Truth"!
As many have pointed out, the wt wants it both ways at once. The excuses (imperfect men, light getting brighter) and the status of dispensing "Truth".
I'd call it dishonest.

that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.
second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.
you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.
Hi and welcome SFPW!
To be fair, maybe it's me. Maybe I've been a JW so long that I cant imagine being part of any movement without unity and love amongst ourselves. How do you folks do it?
Well, what is a "movement"? I'm a non-jw, I "belong" to a family, a workplace, charity groups, a bushwalking club and a liberal, inclusive church. None of them require unity. There are various levels and kinds of common interest, comradeship, affection and love.
What happens to the love of the congregation when a baptised believer can no longer believe?

we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.
So very sorry to hear this, Winston! Your careful preparation deserved better.
