What about the Tribulation?

the tribulation was not specifically covered in my "bible studies".

but the main "teacher" several times said how she prayed for strength that she would remain true to jehovah when she was tested "in the persecutions".. so, i understand that there has to be some sort of tribulation and persecution of the faithful before armageddon.

why i'm confused is that every stock market dip, new virus or extreme weather event is hailed as the beginning.

in the thread about the wt in russia, maze made the assertions below.. .

jehovah's witnesses as an organization acts as a protection to the family unit.

andthe lie that jehovah's witnesses ruin families is apostate poison.. to aviod derailing that thread, i ask maze to defend them here.. my experience is that the jw religion destroyed my brothers' marriage.

i noticed you have posted a consistent message on a number of threads, and wanted to give you a your own platform to tell us why you are here and anything else you'd like us to know.. fwiw, i'm a non-jw who has members and friends in the organisation.

i have limited contact with them because i've not "progressed" satisfactorily with my "studies".

The believing spouse

when we first find out that the wt is a scam, we immediately forget every warning that the wt gave us on how to recognise a big, scary, evil, satan inspired, apostate, and we forget that everyone else in the hall was listening to those warnings.. this gave me another little gimpse into life "inside".

so, to better understand my jw friends, i try to imagine what it would be like to completely trust the wt, but have disbelieving family and/or friends.. imagine having children raised in the "truth", and catching the end of a cheeky, disbelieving grin at a watchtower platitude, and fearing that you are losing them.. imagine believing that my partner and/or my children will die in a global catastophe - "soon" - which i must loyally anticipate.. imagine the feeling of dread when my partner or friend raise a challenging subject; knowing i must cling to what i've been taught, or anger jehovah.

Wasps in Awake

the "was it designed" articles in awake usually annoy the hell out of me, but the one in the march issue (p25) is a real gem and i can't wait to discuss it with my jw ladies.. the musta-been-designed is the ovipostor of the wood-boring wasp.

so i can ask, if it's so evidently ( .

and that would include the wasp familiy pompilidae, right?

hi, i was just reading the.

flow chart - how to have a rational discussion thread, and my first thought was that the "you cheated" box was too confrontational for someone not used to logic.

then i realised that in all my discussions with my jw ladies, i'd been tiptoeing around my points for fear of scaring them off.

in my introductory post i told about the jws that have been visiting me at my sil's request.

at first i spoke with them for her sake, then found i liked them anyway.

what i didn't like was the literature, especially the stuff trying to disprove evolution.

i have lurked for a few weeks, and gathered that a bit of background is expected; understandably.

i'm from a reasonably dysfunctional family, and my brother married a really nice lady who was "studying" with the jws.

over the years i saw this independent, funny lady change.
