  i am very distraught tonight.

  i think i told the board back around the new year that the make a wish foundation was going to grant my 7 year old cousins wish that has cerebral palsy.

  he has been so excited, he was going to leave april 15th.

  Well with that extra piece of information I can see your point more clearly.

  Since they have made exceptions in the past that adds more weight to your position. I wish you well on your quest on behalf of your nephew.

  I would rather tell Wonder's cousin that he cannot go than to tell the dying child that only has three weeks to live that due to a clerical error he cannot have his wish. Enjoy the last three weeks of your life.

  While difficult, I think it is a better option that someone with only a few weeks to live get higher priority than a child who despite his great suffering and pain endured will live long enough to see his wish later on in life.

  Let's be realistic, this is a charity for kids. It takes unique caring people to get involved in that kind of operation. Do you really think they are intentionally jerking around this child. I am confident they are torn up over it.

  But it is even harder telling family after family that they cannot get a wish due to budget constraints.

  As I said I would rather disappoint a child with a life ahead of him than a dying kid. I would prefer not to disappoint either actually but if left to making a choice between the two..the dying kid wins IMO.

  I have done a lot of work for a similar charity (Childrens' Wish Foundation) and that holds much the same mandate. I can understand your point but also can appreciate why they cannot provide the trip in this case.

  You are right in that a mistake was made. They should never have accepted your request since it does not fall under their mandate. This organization and all those who donate towards it state that it is for wishes of terminally ill children.

  Not only could they lose their status if they provided this trip but it would then be depriving a child who is dying his last wish. While I understand your compassion for your family member let it not blur the fact that by going against their mandate and giving your family the request, a dying child will not get his/hers. Yet that charity was designed for the child that is going to be deprived.

  The trip should never have been promised. A mistake was made but should a dying child be the one that is forced to pay for that mistake? Yes the budgeets are that tight and many terminally ill children cannot get thier wish due to limited funds.

  I am sorry that he is so sick but am extremely gratified that it is not terminal.

  Are there any charities in your area that are designed for sick kids not necessarily terminal? Perhaps even the Red Cross could direct you to a charity that could do something that makes up for the disappointment.

  PS- Stephanus - speaking of heartless comments and dublike atitudes (judgmental) I take umbrage to your words to Rekless.   The Hip was phenomenal BTW. They had a private bash after the concernt with some of the COA sponsors and some atheletes. Got a chance to hang with them for a bit...got a signed drumstick from the band.

  Was strange partying with a great rock band who told people to keep it down since their kids were sleeping across the hall!

  Ahhh the Vincent threads. I think it shall be the record (no pun intended) holder for a long time.

  To learn about Vincent one must go back to one of the most intelligent and balanced posters here.

  The Vincent threads came to be a place of reflection through lyrics, which developed into friendships through music, and ultimately a place of peace at JW.com during the wars.

  One might say there has formed a 'Vincent class (tm)' LOL

  too late for your situation, but i'd treat her as i've come to treat my jw family: leave religion, the truth, jehovah (and the rest of that jw baggage) out of all conversations... unless they bring it up.

  First I feel for and commend Simon. It ain't easy is it? Spoeaking from experience, it can be tough being loved one minute by some and within the same minute realize that others want your head in some proverbial cyber sacrifice. I really do admire the way you have handled things here.

  Wendy: One cannot help but wonder who has the problem? The one who may have deleted something in haste or extreme application of the rules or the one who carries it with them for over a year or more??

  You knew I was Mod101 for several months and we were "friends" during that time but yet you never once questioned me about this or any action I took as a moderator at H20 but yet you bring it up now. This is news to me and cannot honestly remember deleting anything by you. What alias did you use there?

  I cannot help but feel that either you are reaching for something that never existed or it wasn't really important until now when you think it could prove a point.

  Regardless I am disappointed but not really surprised considering your apparent closest associates... (Let the reader use discernment smirk). I wish you, Tom and the kids (Current and future) well but am simply disappointed in what I have seen from you of late. Not that you should or do care but thought you should know.

  And yes, I am coming out of retirement at JW boards after 'someone sent me this link' ...

  And feel free to tell your friends that they can threaten me and try to blackmail me into silence if they so desire. Tina, Kent and their fellow thugs/extortioners can do what they want. They hold no power over me any longer. If they want to reveal my identity to the Borg and or my family as they have threatened that is their issue not mine any longer. Not to mention that any personal information they currently have about me (address and phone numbers) will be changing shortly anyway. Feel free to pass that along... I know you or other former alleged friends will...

  PS - Farkel and Alan, you most of all, disappoint. :( Again not that I presume it matters to either of you. Not that I hold any ill will to either of you, ..simply just a disappointment in people that I thought much of and held in esteem. Life goes on....

  PSS - NewLight - I thank you for your fair appoach to things in this thread and throughout that past years. Your desire for fair play and free speech is exemplary IMO. You have always been a stright shooter and one who has been forthright about your perception of right/wrong. I admire that.

  while driving yesterday in toronto, i noticed a mid size japanese car pass by with a licence plate "the list".. now, tallyman's comprehensive list immediately came to mind.

  i know there are a number of "lists" out there, but thought i'd ask.. i have not seen him post for a while.

  does anyone know if tallyman lives in to?

  Speaking of vanity plates tho, did oyu ever see the two at Bethel of individual Bethelites.

  Walter Graham (former spin doctor for the branch) used to have "BETHEL" as his licence plate. I think after he was ousted he got it changed.

  Another Bethelite has "RUAJW2" on his. A little more cryptic but can't see anyone driving aroudn with that kind fo advertising!!

  Keep an eye on the board for upcoming Toronto Apostofests. There should be one coming up soon.

  I can take a joke, but.. I have one friend, 2 work colleagues and one former neighbour who cannot 'take a joke', they all died September 11th.

  I guess I have a hard time finding death by plane crash to be all that funny.

  The first two options may at first appear to be the better since it can 'mean closure' and bring a certain finality to things but at what cost?

  It all boils down to what is most important to you and what action would lead to the better results for you.

  I wish you peace (that was what was missing for me as a JW).
