Well I can honestly say I am not nor have I ever been a member of the Unseen Apostate Directorate of North America.
So TR could be correct that I was incorrect about correctly pointing out their non-existence. Or then again maybe not.
ok - i'm still fairly new here so don't throw tomatoes......... but what is the "unseen apostate directorate" that i see on some of your signature lines?
i'm curious.

Dawn:
It is a long standing joke, parody, whatever.
It was funny for the first 300 hundred views... but not necessarily funny when perpetrated against newbies as if there is some sort of club. April 1st is long over.

the appeal court backed the decision of the lower court judge.. i am not rejoicing that the girl is necessarily getting the blood, tho i certainly like her chances for survival far better this way than with the 'alternative' treatment.
i have long been of the opinion that people have the right to chose medical treatment as long as it is an informed decision .
the court in their ruling support the fact that this girl did not make an inofrmed choice and was under intense pressure from the church, not her own belief.

I believe there is another level of Appeals within the Province that would have to be approached before it could be raised to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Trouble is the Society likes trying to escalate things like this so they can get the top Court to make a ruling that would be binding on all Provinces.
I don't see the SCC hearing it since they have made significant rulings about Best Interests of the Child over the past few years and would not likely want to revisit it agains so soon.
My thoughts anyway.

you are driving along on a wild and stormy night.
you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people huddled on a bench, waiting for the bus: .
1. an old woman who looks as if she is dying.
Give the keys to my friend (after all he saved my life, I think I can trust him)
Get him to drive the old lady to a safe warm dry place, then come back along with a cab for himself.
Meanwhile, me and my soulmate cuddle and keep each other warm until the friendreturns. We then go warm up somewhere after saying farewell to the old friend.

The court in their ruling support the fact that this girl did not make an inofrmed choice and was under intense pressure from the church, not her own belief. The court agreed that this girl had not been given a fair chance to consider the alternatives available nor did she have the life experience to make his kind of decision.
It set in place a phenomenal precedent that can be used in Child Custody as well as future blood cases. It shows that 1) the best interests of the child standard is applicable in medical situations, even involving teens, and 2) the WtchTower is in the view of the Court a high controlling religion that shelters their adherants from positive life experiences.
I am trying to get a full copy of the judge's reason's for judgment. If I can find them, I will post them here.
Although this is a relief I am sure for the father..his daughter is getting the treatment she needs, he still has to deal with the costs involved and more stressing, the emotional trauma of being shunned by his family.
Time for those positive thoughts, vibes, prayers..or even better quick notes of support.
Lets hope this can save some teenagers' lives!!!
Kismet - who enjoys seeing the Society's mature minor argument being set on its ear!!
Here is a link to one article just released:
i was thinking today that many of us ex-dubs are fairly capable of holding our own when conversing with an active witness about anything jw related.
if we dont have an immediate answer, it isnt difficult to find a ex-jw website that has a lot of good information we could use for finding an answer fairly quickly.
having said this though, i think there are some questions that a jw could ask you that might be a lot tougher to answer, websites or not.
If there isn't a Creator, how exactly did all this happen? Our human body, the universe(s), the brain, the eye, our ability to reason?
Toughest question IMO
well, we got a new digital camera and took it on our little jaunt to orlando, so i thought i'd share a few with you.. we went to this dinner theater where they dress up as knights and do the whole jousting and sword fighting thing.
since we had two teenage boys with us...it was their idea of a fun evening.
here's one of me and dana(she's the younger looking one) .
Those pics do not do justice to Dana's great looks!!! She is far better looking than any film could capture!
Just my opinion.

It isn't very active right now but is designed strictly for the purpose you mentioned.

arrested for going kingdumb hall!.
last night (3/21) the mountain view (ca) police arrested me.. this happened as i was attending the sunnyvale congregation service meeting.. i was dfd last july and was told by the elders the conditions for reinstatement were meeting attendance, repentance along with not speaking to anyone or anyone speaking to me (shunning at its finest).
(btw, i was dfd for apostasy).
I think the police got you to sign a complaint against the elder, which they then followed up with a charge. A citizen's arrest technically only applies so far as you detained the person and turned him over to the police for proper handling. Making a private complaint is much more common. The Police obviously felt enough evidence was there to warrant their following through with a charge.
I think the best thing you should do is to get in contact with the Proscuting attorney for your case and ask what he requires from you (being the cooperative person you are!!!) and ask him to explain next steps for you.
These PA's are really overworked, so I believe s/he would appreciate you being pro-active in approaching them.
