  Excuse me, I didn't excuse the Vice Presidents remarks, just pointed out they were made under different circumstances.

  They did/do have the right to their own opinoin--no matter how much you and your ilk do not like it. Don't like it? Get the hell out of this country. Perhaps to China. You would fit right in.

  Again, I said the Chicks have the right to their own opinion. Where you seem to disagree with me is when I express my opinion. Are you saying I should be exiled to China because I express my opinion ??? Why the personal attack ? Are you saying I shouldn't have the right to express my opinion ??? Sorry, rights cut both ways.

  Not for censoring but there has to be accountablity

  Sheila not sure what you meant by your post, but censorship can only come from the Government. If Simon says we can't say certain things on this board then that is his right as he owns this board. However he can't stop anyone from posting on other boards. If government says we can't express a certain opinion at all, that is censorship. Bug

  the conservative right is calling for a boycott of Slimfast

  Not sure this is correct. From what I read, the next day Slim Fast was catching it about Whoopi's statements. However, if someone is calling for a boycott that is their right, the same as it is Whoopi's right to use gutter language at a fund raiser. As far as the Vice Presidents remark is concerned, I don't agree with that either, but it was a private conversation not meant for public consumtion.

  Remember the Dixie Chicks ? They also learned the hard way. The kept insisting they had the right to their own opinion, which they certainly do. But the rest of us also have the same right and we also have the right to spend our entertainment dollar in a manner we see fit.

  Since when has any presidential candidate been not guilty of badmouthing the other side? You seem to believe Bush is innocent of that...

  Doc, I can't believe someone as intelligent as you could miss the whole point, she wasn't guilty of bad mouthing the President, she was guilty of having a filthy mouth. As far as I know Bush hasn't resorted to those tactics.

  Another point, she was dropped by Slim Fast because they were getting piles of mail in protest because of Whoopi's remarks. Slim Fast has a product to sell and publicity such as this makes them nervous, understandably. Does she have the right to make such remarks ? You bet she does, but others have the same rights and they took advantage of those rights.

  No kidding. A six pack of beer, while not good, is no reason to alert the police. An overreaction on this doctor's part if you ask me. And also it will discourage people from disclosing everything to their doctor.

  To add to Big Tex's post, the Doctor didn't know what time of day the fellow drank or if he drank and drove.

  think it's wrong, given what was stated above it exactly what is going to happen and then the problems will worsen for the patient and the public. What are liquor store owners now going to have to call the police when they notice the same individual buying liquor every evening?

  This could happen. If so a really heavy drinker would simply go to five or six liquor stores per week. Bug

  Just for making anti-Bush comments? That's about as lame as getting fired for being an atheist or pro-choice

  A lot of people have made anti Bush comments without fear of anything happening to them. But this was a fund raiser for a canidate for President. It this is going to be the tone of Mr. Kerry's Presidency then the country will be back in the same gutter in which Clinton wallowed. There are standards of decency, which whoopi exceeded, and now she is paying for her excesses. .

  When word of this law gets around, no one is going to tell their Doctor the truth about their drinking habits. If anyone who lives in Pennsylvania has the doctor ask them about drinking they would be better off telling the Doc they don't drink at all, or refuse to answer the question. Bug
