The Branding of the XJW
by Beans init really is funny to look back and think how we were jehovahs witnesses, we walked the walk and talked the talk literally!
in a sense we thought we stood out in the crowd, the feeling of knowing you were above others in a sense because you knew that you would be saved.. but here we are again in a strange way still with this label or a branding of a sort, hi i'm an xjw!
we still have this past pasted to us forever, but we deal with it!

Beans,
Out of all of your posts I've read, this is the first one I've disagreed with. Calling someone a name such as apostate dismisses their (the person who disagrees) side of the issue in one word. This is somewhat akin to calling a black person the "N" word. Using either word in a derogatory manner is an attempt to make the person the slur is aimed at, somewhat less than human. I refuse to use either word.

I quit smoking some 30 years ago and I can still remember like it was yesterday. This is not going to be easy. The thing that worked for me is I finally got it thru my pea sized brain that I could not indulge in that little pleasure anymore. Another trick, that helped is when the urge came on I would start running and that seemed to help. The first three days are horrible and the first month is very difficult, so if you can get thru all of that you should make it, if you really wish to quit. Wishing you the best. Bug

Background of those leaving
by freedom96 inwho are the majority that are leaving?.
are they those who grew up as witnesses, and this generation realized that this is not the true religion and leave?.
or maybe a witness who had a position of power, such as an elder or ms, or maybe had some insight from bethel, and saw too much?.

If this board is any indication, the WTBTS has lost many on their most capable people, including former Bethelites, elders, and CO/DO's. They have also lost many very bright women. They are in dire need of all of these people, because they are left with those who, while doing exactly what they are told to do, are not very helpful when it comes to making intelligent dicisions.

I have this article saved in my computer and if the elders show up to ask my about my 20 year absense from the Kingdom Hall, I'll ask them for their comments regarding this mis- carriage of justice. Thanks for posting this. It is going to be interesting to see how these suits come out. Bug

colts 23, jets 15 (the jets had their super bowl vs. the packers).
packers 21, falcons 17 (i have a hunch that atlanta may pull the upset but you can't root against the pack at lambeau).

Please let me add my voice to the chorus. It would be difficult for me to see how this guy could suddenly change from a "hitter" to a perfect partner. I can't say that never happens but I've never seen it. As was pointed out earlier, you deserve better. Bug

Some of the Aussie fireworks were aired on TV this morning and I must say it was an impressive sight. Probably even more impressive for those of you who were there.
Happy New Year to all who post on and use this board. Bug

This has been a year in which my life has been turned completly upside down because I found this site. We (wife and I) faded some 20 years ago, for the most part because I couldn't accept the spin on the 1975 debacle, and the teachings on oral sex. Little did I know that these things were only the tip of the iceberg. This place has taught me so much and I will probably need it as the elders will be knocking on our door soon.
