Worshiping an act itself
by WTWizard inyou probably heard of people worshiping people (such as a parent, a study conductor), things (crosses, money), or organizations (a church, the washtowel babble and crap slaveholdery).. i believe, however, there is one other thing one can worship: actions.
and, among the witlesses, the most common acts that are worshiped are field circus and boasting session attendance.
this happens when one believes that they are going to see one or more of their problems gone as long as they are attending every boasting session and/or doing excessive field circus.

what sort of responses do people actually get when you write to brooklyn hq to query subjects like their quote mining and other dubious uses of sources.
i am currently having a bit of a 'discussion' on a popular nz mb with 3 or 4 current jw who are having a hard time accepting that the quotes from their latest pamphlets on evolution, among others are taken out of context, its got to the point where the only answer they are willing to give is to take it up with borg central.. if i actually physically mailed them a letter with a large portion of attached documents, would i get an actual response, photocopies of articles, or filed under wicked slave?.

I had a unique situation a few years ago...I was divorced and 5 years later I had sex with another woman. However I only got on private reproof. After I got off of that I asked if I was free to remarry. Several Elders told me since I was the one that sought out relations with someone else EVEN though it was 5 years after my divorce that it freed my ex wife but since I was the guilty party it didn't free myself. I was confused about that. So I said I would write Bethel. The Elder specifically told me that YOU don't write Bethel...WE write Bethel. I was shocked to the core!

Yknot, Still thinking about those things. Give me some things to think about. I have been reading here and that is a start. Terry I believe his name is has been great with the field service posts. 100 years of preaching but yet if you get 10 random worldly people in a room and ask them what witnesses believe they could not tell you. Most will say witnesses don't believe in Jesus...That is not a good record.

Brother Carl Salesman-Say it fast! Get it? Car salesman? He goes up to everyone and shakes their hand and smiles and says how ya doing brother so and so then he is on to the next one. You REALLY can tell he has no personal interest in you at all but is just doing his routine. Phony smile included. He is usually the WT conductor.
Brother Can't wait- You ask him how he is doing and the laundry list of problems he tells you and always at the end he says...I can't wait for the new system....

How families were broken up by wifes becoming JWs back in the 50s
by life is to short inthere is this sister in the hall i went to who is in her mid 80's.
she is very active and pioneers, etc.
well when i was still going to the meetings and out in service she would talk about how she came into the "truth.

They had me cut off my family too. I never went to anything christmas with them. They tried to tell me that it wasn't really Christmas but a family get together but I refused. I didn't want to upset Jah....
