Too many illions.
I have a headache.
what's the difference?
a millionaire, a billionaire, and a trillionaire recognize each other outside an attorney’s office.
chat reveals each of them just signed off on their last will and testament.millionaire: “i feel really good about what i did here today.
Too many illions.
I have a headache.
just an odd thought i guess.
i saw a large snake in the back of my house the other day and it went on its merry way.
i just asked myself, what if the snake turned around and wanted to have a philosophical discussion on life, the universe or the origin of creation and then began to ask me questions?
RubaDub - "How would you react if a snake started talking to you?"

i'm reading babylon the great has fallen, god's kingdom rules, published 1963. this was studied years ago when i was about 10-12 years old.
i wanted to just read some of the beliefs from decades ago.
my wife wants to know why i'm reading this book.
tiki - "Perhaps the blind are leading the blind..."
Close.
Ray Franz once quoted another Bethelite describing WT higher-ups as "followers leading followers".

Balaamsass2 - "She jumped up like she had seen a ghost and said: 'Don't read that old crap! It will knock you out of the truth!!!!!'..."
Sounds like a refreshing moment of (accidental) honesty.
I'd have felt an almost overwhelming urge to reply (at the very least), "well, why the fuck do you keep it???"

Giordano - "I've always thought that the WTBT Society was a lot closer to being akin to Amway then the Bible."
Holy shit, yes.
I had a "worldy" co-worker try and induct me into Amway back in the day (I was still an active JW at the time), and I found the parallels downright creepy.

fastJehu - "When I expressed my first doubts to my mother, she said to me, 'You read too much old literature'..."
I had the odd acquaintance (they never became actual friends) who'd say to me "you think too much".

Ding - "I asked, 'When do WT publications stop being the truth and turn into garbage and apostate literature?'...He stormed out of my living room."
Reminds me of a video on YouTube I once saw about a guy showing folks on the street certain passages in the Koran than they found offensive, with one fellow in particular espousing the Bible as therefore being inherently superior...
...only for the first guy to pull off the dust jacket and reveal that he was actually reading from the Bible.
And the Biblical loyalist turned and stormed off down the street in a huff.
Funny thing about assholes that we sometimes forget...
...you can give them enough toilet paper, but eventually they'll shit on themselves.

IWant2Leave - "...Old literature/light is right up there with apostate literature."
IMO, you're even more right then you know.
Hell, as far as the Org is concerned, anything that criticizes the the Society, contradicts "current light", or refutes WT ideology may as well be be "apostate"...
...even stuff that never had a WT connection in the first place.
The only reason they haven't fully set it in stone is that it would probably limit recruitment too much, and "growth=God's blessing" is still too strongly embedded in the JW worldview.
cities across america have been pillaged and destroyed these last few days.
a white policeman has been charged with murder of a black man.
protests have been organized across major us cities and horrible riots have occurred.
I've heard that some organized protests are often infiltrated by opponents who deliberately try to incite violence in order to discredit said protests' agendas.
can you believe the presumption?.

smiddy3 - "...How can anybody take this man seriously? Surely anybody new to JWs and sees this guy give a talk would never come back."
I often can't help but suspect that the rest of the GB are, in fact, fully aware of this, and deliberately put him on specifically as a sort of bizarre litmus test.
If a current JW is so hard-core loyalist that he or she can drink Lett-flavored Kool-Aid and honestly say, "please sir, can I have some more"...
...they've got 'em for life*...
...and if a new recruit can't, well, let's be honest... they probably wouldn't want 'em anyway.
