Honestly, sometimes when I'm in a conspiracy-theory mood, I wonder if the GB - someday in the future, anxious and faced with actual undeniable decline that couldn't be simply explained away - would try to provoke The World into "persecuting" them in the hopes that Jehovah would drop the Big A and bail them out.

hoser - "They are in major decline because no one cares."
This.
Back in the day, the Org absolutely thrived on so-called "opposition"...
...apathy was mentioned once in a while, but only in the context of the rank-and-file.
Ten bucks says the WT leadership never had a clue how to deal with "Satan's World" not actually giving a shit.

False memorial partakers deserve to die???
by Jofi_Wofo inevery memorial, much emphasis is placed on making sure that only the (self-proclaimed) anointed partake in the emblems.
this year, however, the speaker at my wife's congregation presented it as an even more serious matter.
he likened it to individuals in ancient israel who sought position of the priesthood despite never been appointed by jehovah.

Is this really so surprising?
As far as the WTS is concerned, anyone who doesn't obey "God's Exclusive Earthly Organization" is deserving of death.
An unexplainable increase in emblem-takers in the Last Days contradicts their cosmology, therefore said increase must be false partakers.
Since non-anointed ones have been explicitly told not to partake of the emblems, these false partakers are therefore not obeying "God's Exclusive Earthly Organization".
Thusly, they deserve death. ()
Frankly, I'm kinda surprised the Org hasn't spelled this out sooner, but maybe they were waiting to see if the carrot worked better than the stick.

Misquotes, Lies and deception in Watchtower Publications
by jwfacts ini have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.

Seriously, though...
...it's almost at the point where it's actually funny when we see someone here insisting that the Org is still going strong or will never decline.

Name an Amazing or Unexpected Fact
by Simon ini saw this on twitter the other day and it blew my mind.. tyrannosaurus is closer to us than to stegosaurus.
that is, when tyrannosaurus lived, stegosaurus were already fossilized and those fossils were older than tyrannosaurus fossils are today to us, by a good 20 million years!.
in a similar vein, the star wars prequel movies are now older than the original star wars movies were when those prequels were released.. how about that we're closer in time to cleopatra than she was to the pyramids being built.. what 'ya got?.

In 2018, astronomers found a big, hot, desert-like planet orbiting the star 40 Eridani A (about 16 light-years away)...
...right where - decades ago - official Star Trek writers canonically placed the fictional planet "Vulcan".
Love long and prosper, dudes.

There's another thing to consider.
Despite having "charity status", the Org has long disdained actual charity work like soup kitchens, clothing drives, and the like (too little chance of return on the investment, i.e. new recruits)...
...instead, it's used the preaching work as its defining characteristic to - arguably - qualify for its tax-exemption.
And I've long suspected that the rank-and-file's door-to-door records are the documentation that it keeps to provide "proof", should they ever get audited by any given federal revenue agency.
However, phone witnessing and letter-writing might be a little more difficult with regards to that aspect, though, since it's far more "honor-system"-based than actual, tangible, visible door-to-door/trolley/park-table evangelism that the public actually sees...
...and since I suspect that the Org is starting to feel anxious about losing its tax-exemption*, how will that translate?
*After all, they were one of the very first evangelical groups to comply with Covid-related social distancing rules... with zero fuss, I might add...
...and they caved on the Aussie redress scheme at the eleventh hour, when it became painfully apparent that their tax-exemption was approaching the chopping block.

Wasn't there a slip of the lip by some European WT rep that suggested this a few years back?
If it's legit, I'm willing to bet it's been in the cards for a while... probably ever since WT Legal has told them that trying to hold back the Rising Tide of CSA lawsuits is a losing battle ('specially if the Org's as anxious to keep their tax-exemption as I suspect).
Covid's given them all the pretext they needed to leave it in the rearview mirror and thusly mitigate any accusations that "pedophiles are knocking on your doors trying to recruit your kids", without admitting that's the actual reason (not to mention facilitating the long-suspected transition to an "e-church", which enables them to keep selling off real estate assets to stay in the black).
Not that I'm complaining...
...the D2D work and in-person KH meetings were the two most effective forms of tribal bonding the Org had in their playbook.
Ten bucks says it's gonna be way harder to maintain organizational cohesion and discipline without 'em.
