SweetBabyCheezits - “… Identifying them is, I believe, a pretty important step in suppressing them.”
Or, at the very least, keeping ‘em on a fucking leash.
i've read a lot of crap in my life (not just wts) and i have finally found the phrase to describe almost every religious wrting i've read.
"confirmation bias" affects how jws look at historical facts, how dems and repubs look at economic facts, or how all people look at information presented to them.
i still go to meetings every once in a while to make my wife and my boss feel better about me, but sometimes i can't believe how idiotic some things are.

Or, at the very least, keeping ‘em on a fucking leash.
one of the recent threads on the talk about the hailstone message got me to thinking.
the problem with putting out a message like that is what to do when nothing happens.
i have to think that somebody will be asking that question.
Journeyman - “… some fugitives or criminals become so focused on what they want to do, that they become tunnel-visioned and ignore the massive odds stacked against them. Likewise with military leaders who will lead their forces into futile, suicidal campaigns because they are totally convinced of their own ideology and still believe they can win.”
Factor in sunk-cost fallacy and a near-impenetrable echo chamber, and you got a near-perfect storm of legal, administrative, and membership-based headaches that can’t help but get worse with each passing day.
😏
this has been announced on the jw's official website, in the "jw news" section.
this is not a joke.
anthony moron da turd is out as a gluttonous body member!
I hope they don’t show Stephen Lett the door too son.
He’s entertaining AF.
😏
do the jws still say "we are in the last of the last days" ?
i don't even know what that means any more.
they will say the end is coming soon but according to their god a day isn't a day.
“Define ‘Last Days’…” = lawyerspeak.
i happened to come across this video at the beginning of the week.
you feel so sorry for this poor woman who experienced csa and then the hardheartedness of the elders (what's new there) when she needed genuine love and help.. https://fb.watch/j1qacgxphi/.
It is weird that “conventional” fornication, adultery, and homosexuality all seem to engender a much higher level of freakout amongst JW loyalists.

Hm.
Maybe less “indifferent” than a state of denial?
Passive denial could definitely look a lot like indifference.
I could be wrong.
anybody remember hearing this?.
--.
is that comment in print anywhere?.
I think this keeps getting repeated amongst the rank-and-file by the ones who - deep down - wish they had gone to college…
…and are trying to make themselves feel better.
Like the fox and the grapes.

They’re not “indifferent”.
They simply cannot imagine it could be such a widespread, institutionalized, and endemic problem in “God’s Exclusive Earthly Organization”…
…but more importantly…
…the WT leadership knows that the more the Org’s CSA problem is exposed, litigated against, and confirmed by internal documents, which become a matter of Public Record (especially if such records name actual Governing Body members)…
…that all-important premise becomes almost impossible to maintain.
we all know that despite many scriptures to the contrary, jw's believe that when they die, their consciousness will cease.
my question is this: what will be the likely reaction of jw's if they find themselves conscious after death?.
Saw Breeze - “…What will be the likely reaction of JWs if they find themselves conscious after death?”
Existential panic? 😏
during the height of the pandemic all elders had to report to the co anyone who was struggling with bills or who couldn’t pay the rent.
the co reported it to the branch.. i don’t know what happens next.
do the branch help at all?
ThomasMore - “…Over time, it became obvious that WTC did not want us helping those in need…”
From what Barb Anderson has determined, that tendency goes all the way back to Russel.
