TxNVSue2023 - “I knew someday they would have to remove the time reporting because it's unsustainable & unscriptual.”
Unsustainable? Sure.
Unscriptural? Furthest thing from their minds.
They used to use scriptures to back it up.
this is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

so everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?
TonusOH - “…they feared that Morris would become a loose cannon who would undermine what are already a difficult set of changes to implement...”
That’s a hard one to argue with.
Everything we know about the guy says that Top-Shelf would have absolutely resisted these two big things, and probably a lot more, too.
Makes one wonder who else on the GB could be regarded as hard-line Old Guard?

The GB doesn’t require a unanimous vote to change things… if that were the case, there’d be almost no point in even having a GB.
They do, however, require a two-thirds supermajority, according to Ray Franz.
That may have changed since COC was written, of course, but I don’t think so.
sometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.
they showed them going to great lengths to get customer feedback on what was important to them.
one customer said that she wanted it to be easy to get her appliances serviced when they broke down.
That’s true…
…but there’s another, deeper reason some JWs so vehemently dismiss “worldy wisdom”.
They’re not hostile and suspicious because they think it’s all false…
…they’re defensive and unreasonable because they’re afraid it’s true.
with the change to reporting field service and now allowing people to repent during the gt, presumably up until armageddon, i'm assuming that the "hailstones" message is now permanently on hold.
can someone explain this to me; am i understanding this right?.
Seems so.
Can’t see how you can have the latter if you subscribe to the former.

Vanderhoven7 - “No reason to commit to an organization until they actually produced factual evidence of being right.”
Jeezus, it’s like they want the fakers, faders, and fence-sitters to fuck off.
🤨

Not to mention keeping a Mississippi-sized paper trail of “charitable activities” for tax-exemption if they were ever audited by the IRS.

Funny…
…I’d always assumed they’d try and spin any kind of exodus from the WTS as fulfillment of the “greater number cooling off” prophecy (and therefore, further proof they’re right, of course).

the new zealand branch of the jehovah’s witnesses is going to court in an attempt to have the church made exempt from the abuse in care inquiry today.. in the high court at wellington, lawyers for the church are seeking a declaration that the church is not responsible for the care of children or vulnerable people in new zealand.. abuse survivor advocate and former church elder shayne mechen said the church was trying to use a technicality to side-step its inclusion in the inquiry.. .
Anybody who suggests elders don’t have any authority is either naive or full of shit.
jehovah's witnesses are not encouraging university education... but those who are lawyers already can apply to volunteer to help at bethel.. https://youtu.be/5d_-1lbg-oc?si=fsxeewic-fkczu9p.
NotFormer - “Is there there such a thing as a legal firm that is too moral to take on certain cases?”
Probably not.
But I think an argument could be made that having less-than-ideal clients could get bad for business.
