there're the obvious ones, like the smurfs.
although why still escapes me.
was it because of the magic, that they were "magical creatures", that there were wizards, etc?.

how many can you think of.... they speak for god.. it would seem presumptuous to say they speak for god,.
they are neither inspired nor infallible.. they are god's only channel for issuing truth here on earth.
they won't be apologising for any errors/falsehoods they have promoted in the past that fail.. congregation members must be quick and apologise for their errors to avoid harsh discipline/disfellowshipping.. when they change a major belief/doctrine you must not complain or criticise them.
“Everything is proof we’re right! Even the stuff that contradicts the other stuff!”
i'm looking for an explanation why the gb has made a radical change on the issue of vaccinations.
was there pressure from outside?
were there any financial or other benefits to promoting experimental genetic therapy?.
ExBetheliteNowPIMA - “…I was at Bethel in London at the time and everyone was saying why not just pay the fair tax as they keep telling all their followers to?”
I think it’s pretty clear by now that the Org’s business model is completely dependent on their “charity” status..,
…and that’s the real reason for trying to switch over to real estate sales and multimedia, all the fuss they’re making in the courts when their “official”/state-registered status looks like it’s approaching the chopping block, any capitulating they make to secular authorities at the eleventh hour, and recent attempts at appearing more “mainstream”.
If the Org loses their tax-exemption (particularly in the US), they’d be financially fucked.
That simply cannot be allowed to happen, because any remaining claim to divine factor would be flushed down the toilet, and any remaining inventive to be a JW would be flushed along with it.
As you said, it’s why they relocated without explanation when the France thing happened (jeezus, 40%? I didn’t know that 😳)…
…only a complete moron would try to spin “paying back Caesar’s things to Caesar” as persecution, but they sure as hell weren’t going to admit the real reason, so (unlike Top Shelf and Letto the Clown) they had the brains to keep their mouths shut.
the recent broad casts about not handing in time sheets, and then about beards, especially the beards, it seems so trivial, are those talks only released in order to distract the followers from the recent court case they lost on spain, from the csa cases, the kh sales and so on?.
i reckon they're taking their lead from the media, distract and divide tactics..
“Broadcasts, are they a distraction?”
“Broadcasts, are they for Christians?”
😛
become a jw only if you can't cope with the real world.
i believe i picked this up here but can't find the thread.
i think it worth a repost.. “top ten reasons jehovah's witnesses can't cope with the real world.
Tell that to the child abuse victims, the disfellowshipped suicides, the loyalists who bled to death, and all their families.

I’m not a big believer in coincidence.
i have heard a lot of talk over the last year or so if the gb will eventually ditch 1914 and some have even made the claim that most, if not all of the gb do not believe in 1914. ive given this some thought and in the past i wasnt sure.
this annual meeting puts 100%, without a doubt in my mind that the gb do not believe in 1914. id even go as far to say that they talked about that date and have a game plan in mind.. here is why i feel this way:.
there were a lot of changes with the parables at this annual meeting.
thedepressedsoul - “…I honestly believe that they know 1914 is not real…”
’Course they do.
But they’re the WT leadership.
They know it’s wrong…
…but believe it’s true…
…at the same time.

“…Don't trust yourself to know anything…”
I couldn’t do it…
…the feeling of being intellectually hamstrung was depressing AF.
I was able to have fewer and fewer in-depth conversations about anything interesting.
on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.
NotFormer - “…if he does attend a Kingdom Hall physically, I imagine there're some ‘security’ arrangements in place…”
* gasp*
That’s the reason they changed up the beard ban…
…so that Top-Shelf could go to the meetings incognito!
😄

Maybe the beard-reversal thing is to test the rank-and-file waters to see if dumping some of the bigger, more problematic things is feasable.
