lettersfromthevoid - “When did JWS start disfellowshipping and why?”
When too many members started figuring out the WTS was wrong.
Which kind of answers both questions.
i know this question has been discussed, but i can't find the topic i was just looking at, so.... one thing about this is that the other posters here didn't mention, that i noticed anyway, that there was this member of the gb in the 40s and early 50s (but possibly during rutherford) who was at odds with rutherford or knorr, and they wanted to do away with them, so they accused (falsely) that person, then they declared that the punishment for that sin was something they invented, or at least once iteration of, what we know as the modern disfellowshipping practice among jws.. so, that is why they invented that doctrine; they.

regarding the poster from jw headquarters, who claimed that the gb would eventually loosen the rules regarding sex.
the question is, is there really a bible rule explicitly prohibiting sex without marriage?
because this would be the only possible reason why loosening those rules would even come up in a discussion.
Biahi - “…I attended a bible study where it was suggested that Paul’s ‘thorn in the flesh’ was actually homosexuality…”Wouldn’t surprise me… preachers have a long, proud history of railing against shit they hate about themselves.
Oh god, I just had a thought…
…what if the Apostle Paul was puttin’ it to Timothy, and that’s the real reason behind the kerfuffle with Barnabus?
😵💫
the following is an excerpt from one of aesop's fables.. the boy who cried "wolf"!.
there once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep.
to amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "wolf!
LaFrancia - “…I find it very interesting that on Reddit a large number of people are discrediting the Bethelite leakers, so I assume they are members of the Watchtower/Warwick PID.”
“Watchtower Counterintelligence Force…
…assemble!”

peacefulpete - “…I have come recently to suspect Paul himself was conservative and probably a hardnose…”
What was your first clue?
The misogyny?
Or the homophobia?
😜

Baalamasass2 - “The Bible does condemn ‘fornication’ multiple times.”
Again, property…
…i.e. the words that were translated as “fornication” were more than likely referring to the vandalism and/or theft of another man’s possession(s).
But since we’re on the subject…
…would that be the same Bible that clearly endorses the ownership of human beings as property (and religious intolerance, and genocide) multiple times?

Re. Nonmarital sex in the Bible…
…everybody’s forgetting the elephant in the room… that in Biblical times, women were property… first, their fathers’, second, their husbands’.
Which is why the penalties imposed on individuals for nonmarital sex more closely resembled those sentenced to those guilty of theft or vandalism.
Not to mention the preoccupation the Biblical people had with bloodlines and heredity, as they were expecting a messiah, and therefore needed to keep track of who begat whom.
If a young guy “vandalized” a young woman, he was required to pay restitution to her father, as she had been both his property, and arguably a resource the family would have needed. So too if an older guy “stole” a married woman, but the penalties were stiffer.
These being said, there’s some historical evidence that leniency was extended more often than not, to foster tribal solidarity and unity. Sometimes it seems as though the consequences were negligible.
Regardless, we don’t view human beings as property, now. It is, fact regarded as highly immoral. Relationships, including marriage, are overwhelmingly perceived as partnerships.
And all partnerships are different, with different conditions depending on the terms agreed to by the parties involved, occasionally open to renegotiation, and definitely not the same across the board…
…which arguably would extend towards sexual matters as much as any other.
i.e. Nobody else’s fucking business.
i am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.
i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.
redsetter2 - “…Reportedly, many disfellowshippings take place because elders lack real discernment…”
…and/or their zealotry is dialed up to eleven.
Reminds me of another bit I read recently…
…that the GB wasn’t giving nearly as many explicit marching orders (re. enforcing the rules) as we may have thought. More often than not, they simply trusted elders to not be assholes.
It does dovetail with another recent (and surprising) allegation…
…that up till around 2015, the GB themselves weren’t fully aware just how bad the Watchtower’s CSA problem really was, and only truly learned the full scope when the Org was required by law to organize and collate their relevant records.
I find this plausible, as the Service Dept. under Jaracz was in charge of dealing with that (Jesus Fucking Kreist, that still gobsmacks me 😣), and would therefore have had the means, motive, and opportunity to make it as difficult as possible for anyone else to wade through the maze of paperwork.
elders have a rulebook.
do cos and their superiors have a similar written set of guidelines setting out everything they're supposed to be on top of?.
what prompted the question was a statement by jehovax that there is a new elders manual coming out due to the new changes.
Wait, you’re saying all those guys are really just one person?
If that were the case, wouldn’t Simon do something about it?

redsetter2 - “…By minimising persecution and legal issues through devious methods such as this, the Watchtower Organization deliberately attempts to keep itself alive…”
Paradoxical that it fights so hard to survive…
…yet sometimes seems like it’s expecting - even setting itself up for - an epic fall.
while having my first strong black coffee of the day, i was thinking about what may be to come next as the org.
rapidly goes mainstream, and this is what i came up with :.
1) they will introduce for sunday, the after meeting fellowship, a time for just chatting but with the added bonus of coffee and snacks.
NotFormer - “…It's a no-brainer to ordinary people to lighten up and allow people to have a bit of fun. But it's not in the WT's DNA…”
Jaracz’s legacy again.
Goddamn, that prick left a mess.
