Sounds like everyone is terrified of looking too "worldly".

Does this look like the WT is going to be around a long time? One Watchtower @ One Awake for the public in 2022
by pistolpete ini keep hearing that the watchtower org is going to be around forever because of the many other religions that have been around a long time.
but i disagree because the wt is not like other religious cults.. the watchtower's breath of life is dependent on the last days that started in 1914. .
you can’t change 1914 without a death blow to the entire organization.. the watchtower's 2nd reason for staying alive, is it's continual urging that the life saving preaching work of warning people is the most important work ever.. but- it's very obvious to many, even the old ones that instead of speeding up the work------the work is slowing down to a drip.. comment by former believer; .

I've said this before, and I'll say it again...
...the WTS is, first and foremost, a corporation.
Ergo, its survival is dependent on its monetary solvency.
Now, in what weird-ass mirror universe are significant reduction in product output, regular asset liquidation, and constant legal troubles signs of robust financial health?

ex mormon learning a little about JW
by curious777 inhello friends.
i am an ex mormon who got a little bit obsessed with cults and how they work, after leaving the church.. recently i have been very interested in learning about the structure of jw because i find it very similar in some ways to how the mormon church is organized, except with different names for everything.. i have some questions:.
does the love bomb stop the moment you get baptized?

And on that note...
...(mainstream) Protestantism is the WTS's slightly out-of-touch but generally well-meaning mom...
...Catholicism is the WTS's old alcoholic uncle who's finally going through his twelve steps...
...Judaism is the WTS's eccentric but surprisingly insightful grandfather...
...Islam is Judaism's nephew from his first marriage (who's a little behind the rest of the class, but catching up)...
...Buddhism and Hinduism are Judaism's laid-back college buddies...
...and Scientology is everyone's crazy, mean-as-fuck neighbor from down the street.

Like I've said before... the LDS is the WTS's weirder but nicer older cousin.

The Evidence of Human Evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger
by Disillusioned JW indespite the wt's and young earth creationists' teachings against human evolution (namely macroevolution from non-humans) being a reality, the evidence of human evolution keeps getting stronger and stronger.. consider for example two science news articles and one other science article, each pertaining to the fossil that is nicknamed "little foot".
below are links to three science articles, listed in order of the articles from oldest to newest (except i don't see a date for one of the articles).

As far as I'm concerned, all you got to do is Google "horrifying sea life"...
...natural selection explains that shit way better than creationism ever could.

Article:Religious freedom case over Roy church discipline matter is revived by Utah Supreme Court
by AndersonsInfo intake my word for it, knowing this case as i do, this is an extraordinary decision.
congratulations go to all those involved on the plaintiff's side.
hopefully, the lower court will do the right thing this time.. barbara.

Utah, huh?
Know what I think?
Ten bucks says the previous court's decision was influenced by the Mormon Church (I can't believe they wouldn't have had a vested interest in keeping church discipline internal)...
...and that one of the reasons the appeal is now being reconsidered is because a few key people found out, and were able to positively influence the courts behind the scenes in exchange for keeping that troublesome info on the down-low.
Seriously.
Know why?
'Cause it wouldn't be the first time something similar happened.
A few years back, the LDS was the secret driving force behind Proposition 8 in California, and when that was exposed, not only was the original ruling overturned, but they were very publicly embarrassed...
...and I find it very hard to believe that they're eager to get nailed for pushing too hard against the church-state wall like that again so soon.

Remembering Rutherford
by Sea Breeze inhe seems to me to be the angriest and most ill-tempered of all the wt presidents, especially after his stint in prison and failed prophecies.. “regarding his misguided statements as to what we could expect in 1925, he [rutherford] once confessed to us at bethel, “i made an ass of myself.”” watchtower 1984 oct 1 p.24.
rutherford died at beth sarim on january 8, 1942, at the age of 72.
[220] cause of death was...carcinoma of the rectum..."[21] .

If there's any justice to the universe, Rutherford and Jaracz are cellmates in Hell.

What does the Watchtower Society's History of Prophetic Speculation Prove?
by Vanderhoven7 inquestion: what does the watchtower society's history of prophetic speculation prove?.
how would you respond to this answer provided by paul coom... yesterday on quora?.
"our organization has never been a prophetic speculator.

"What does the Watchtower Society's history of prophetic speculation prove?"
That they are - quite simply - wrong.
Doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.

Did you think this was it for the Watchtower-(Covid)- Well-They are coming back with even greater ZEAL!
by pistolpete inso you all probably heard that the awake magazine is back, .
https://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/?contentlanguagefilter=en&pubfilter=g&yearfilter=.
and one of my jw relatives said they were told by some elders that meetings and field service will resume before the end of the year.. they said this covid virus was a test, like when the romans breached jerusalem and retreated, only to come back later and sack jerusalem.

Diogenesister - "...If this virus had only affected kids, babies and young people, there would have been no Bethel lockdown, and meetings and the D2D ministry would have continued for everyone as usual, irregardless of risk..."
Hard to argue with, I gotta admit.

What Is Truth?
by minimus injust because you believe something as truth, it doesn’t make it truth.
religious leaders may be admired and believed but they could be dead wrong.
politicians can spout out “facts” that support their truth yet once further evidence comes through these facts are questionable.

“What is truth?”
