  Why do Jehovah's Witnesses attend so many meeting?

  ronald curzan ( helper to the teaching committee ) gives a talk on the real reasons jehovah's witnesses should attend meetings.

  it looks like the zoom meetings have softened up many witnesses.

  many are probably turning off their cameras and zoning out.

  The situation is slightly different with the WTS then other megachurches, though, I think…

  …securing the Org’s revenue stream is more a means to an end, rather than the goal in and of itself.

  i would have to say yes...by tagging god's alledged name in their title and attaching to it unusual doctrines, end of world date predictions, deadly blood interpretation, abusive shunning policy, csa cover ups.. is there more?.

  Watchtower looses Norwegian Appeal

  watchtower has just lost its appeal in the norwegian courts over the withdrawal of the funding it receives from the government as an officially recognised religion.

  the initial decision will now stand due to what the court termed 'exclusionary practices' which includes the witnesses barbaric practice of shunning minors, even by family members in their own homes.

  the ministry of children and families have decided they are now no longer eligible for the state grant of 16 million norwegian kroner given to officially recognised religions.. the following is a statement has been issued, i have summarised if it isn't readable: .

  Any government agency that offers financial aid has every right to set certain minimum qualifications for receiving said aid.

  Complaining about changes to or stricter enforcement of the rules doesn’t make you look “persecuted”.

  It does make you look like a whiny little bitch, though.

  Agreed.

  There’s another aspect to consider, too.

  With dwindling donations due to low income membership, recent overextension on projects, and the Rising Tide of pedo-related court losses, I really think they’re feeling the pinch more than usual.

  And any corporation that can’t ensure continued revenue stream is on shaky ground…

  …i.e. its survival is threatened.
  

  More and more, I think that - whether they admit it out loud or not - the JW leadership are feeling increasingly compelled to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the Org’s survival.

  From their POV, they have to, in order to continue shoring up the premise of “God’s Exclusive Earthly Organization”…

  …ideologically, it’s the WTS’s entire justification for existing, really.

  What happens, though, when the very actions they have no choice but to take to survive can’t help but undermine said premise?

  Honestly, at this point, I doubt they give a shit what “Satans World” labels them.

  I think it’s about maintaining a minimum level of revenue flow for operating costs.

  Thing of it is, if the Org can’t do that without help from secular government, it suggests they’re on thinner financial ice than previously thought.

  JWs near of losing their status a religious organization in Norway

  last spring norweigian state refused to give public contribution to jws (religious organisations can apply that in norway and previously wtbs has been granted that).

  the decision was caused because of practise of disfellowshpiping.. now there is a new twist.. 25.10.2022 authorites in norway send a letter to wtbs and told them that they have four weeks to fix that practise.

  if they don't do that they will loose their status as a religiouse organisation.. intrestingly jws did not "understand" what authorites meant by that and requested more time.. how can they not understand?
