Doesn't Duet suggest there must've been a whole lotta shakin' n' rapin' goin' on back then? You hardly ever read about how the victim feels about anything though or that she should have a say in anything. Maybe why WT has no regard for women too... a patriarchal society.

@ billy - Bible requirement at Deut. 22:28,29 that the victim be forced to marry her rapist?
Doesn't the verses just before that indicate that a rape victim doen't need two witnesses? It says if no one is around (to hear her scream) then she is considered innocent and the rapist must die.

Angus left Spinks with something to mull over during lunch break: "What elements of your procedure cannot be changed in the future due to your understanding of the scriptures?" or something like that. I wonder how he'll slip out of that one.
I hope the commission will bring up the fact that "Watchtower's understanding of scripture is in a constant state of flux" as ScenicViewer just brought out. good point!

Does the .Org have the gall to ignore the RC?
by Lemonp ini have been mulling over the options that the wt has to take in regard to child abuse.
in my mind there are the following ones:.
1. overhaul their entire system, and apologize to all abuse victims.

Well written, scathing article that summarises first 3 days of RC hearing.

just one thing that is not quite right is that the article refers to joe bello as a narrogin elder.

Horley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses UK (disbanded)

by OrphanCrow ina catholic forum has a discussion thread: "jehovah witness now appear with the royal commission".. i have made the comment before that dr. applewhite's appearance in support of the jws is not surprising if you consider that the royal commissions' findings will impact the structure of the cathoilc church as well.
the catholic church has a vested interest in the jws' hearing - if the jws are forced to change their organizational structure, so will the catholics.. the following post is an excellent discussion on the similarities and differences between the catholic church and the jws structure.

truthseekr - absolutely! I was just reading that last link about the "international expert" Dr.Applestinks to my Jw wife. She's much more interested when it relates to troubles for the Catholic Church. Seems the Catholics are worried now b/c they are the ones who initially hired Monica, only to have JWs latch on to her at the last moment. Case Study 29 has now officially "exacerbated the damage to the Jehovah's Witnesses" and discredited the very one the Catholics were going to use in their testimony coming up next. This just gets better n better! Next week'll be a hoooot! -

game-changer? I don't like to get my hopes up anymore. On a personal level, JWs don't change from external pressure - it comes from within. Maybe organizations are different. But I do say that the only honest JW is an ex-JW. I would like to think this RC commission thing is the Titanic first hitting the iceberg.
