!.
I am growing each and every day with the experience of a lifetime.
trading insults happens among kids all the time.. intellectual development hasn't progressed to the point where they can present contrary ideas and opinions with persuasive appeal to reasons, facts and logic.. "i know you are; but what am i?".
"your momma's so fat....".
so, they fall back on childish mocking, provocation and personal attack.. as we grow older and have more education and sophistication our minds should mature---or so you'd think!.
Terry,
I agree with what you wrote and can not ever be in a position to deny how your feel - that is the truth of it all, (well my therapist sez that anyway) you do own those feelings.
But to make and take things personal - there is not need, we all have nothing to gain when we do that.
Look it, we are all wounded and hurt from what we went through and WHAT WE ARE ALL GOING thru NOW! so I think compassion is due to each and everyone that posts , as well as mutual respect.
Heck, we are not perfect and we will make mistakes in what we write, so lets try to understand that "typing on a keyboard" does not give the right flavor all the time, but to get personal - I don't think there is any reason or method to make one feel that way.
to quote a man no longer with us
"Why can't we all just get along"
Love to all always

the bible, ot & nt, certainty doesn't prohibit the most basic of human civil rights, freedom from slavery.
of course, the bible was used to justify the ownership of slaves in america, as in many other lands.. an often-forgotten footnote in the history of america is that there was a time when poor white irish were imported from ireland to be sold as slaves during the 17th and 18th century.
in fact, their worth was considered even lower than that of black slaves, who often fetched a price 10x that of an irish slave!
Yup, guess what people dont want to talk about, Slavery
because Thomas Jefferson had them (as he preached the great rights for man) Slept with them, fathered them, and never SET Them FREE! thats a messy kettle of fish.
But what is truly sad is the 1st case in Virginia of a slave suing for his freedom was denied, and his owner was a Black Free Man.
I hate to point fingers but it all started by greed - Greedy men in Europe, Greedy Africans in West Africa, Greedy Plantation owners in the World,
The Irish were first, the african families next and then the greedy Euro moved west and took it all from the Native indians (just like they did in other places all over the world) and we wonder WHY DIDNT GOD STEP in FIX IT!!!! (had to get that jab in)
It's a Rainy Evening in the NC (and I am stuck in a Hotel for work with nothing on TV)

I am not anyhting at the moment, haven't gotten past just getting out. MAybe as I gracefully age inot my 60's I will see the need. But right now, I think doing good deeds, enjoying my life, (golfing and running ) helping my family when I am able and planning for the years ahead are my formost needs for worship. Really wish I had enthusiam for the location of a worship place, but I dont. Do you think that will change soon?

the other day i overheard a conversation about jws and somebody said jws don't celebrate birthdays.
the other one said he has a few friends who are jws and while they don't celebrate their own birthdays, they do celebrate his.... then a thought crossed my mind: what if those of us who did not switch to another religion and have a somewhat non-jw lifestyle (not that hard) just keep saying we are jws?
given that there should be more ex-jws than jws by now, how would that influence the public view of jws?.
Like the Mormons, - they use the expression "jack Mormons" referring to those who really are NOT mormons
in essence becoming a "jackJW"
then all would knwo the difference?
