Self Esteem is a product of our upbringing. If she has issues with that - a social worker can help her with that. unfortunately the WTBTS keeps you in that "low self worth" position by saying we are NEVER worthy to think for ourselves. Education - good step forward, but hold back on the deep thoughts about what YOU KNOW, the time is not right Sounds like she is moving in the right direction...let her keep rolling herself forward, DONT PUSH HER

Good Signs from my wife? maybe? She wants to improve her thinking ability!
by thecrushed inso after the memorial hell http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/249700/1/memorial-hell my wife totally missed the special talk and i only just realized from jwn that she has.
in fact last sunday i took her out to a park and we had nice time in the fresh air enjoying nature.
also she has taken up improving her congnitive skills on luminosity and today said she might actaully go and study some algebra on khan academy which i had suggested instead of spending money on luminosity.

Has Your Personality Changed Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus ini have an aquaintance that likes to say, "once an a hole always an a hole".
i guess you could reason that whatever your religious views were, your core is you are who you are.. did your personality change for better or worse when you left the organization?.

Nope, I am the still very happy, gentle fellow I have always been.
I would let the WT EVER change that.

You comment - "Detlef Garbe came up with the 1,200 figure. I don't think there are centralised records on who the Nazis killed, JWs or otherwise. That's why it's impossible to be precise about the numbers killed."
There are "Centralised records" - while very close to the number researched by the DC Holocaust Musuem - their researchers do a great job and provide much details (of which I Was not even apprised) is not far off. You may feel free to contact them to support this comment.
However, one must be careful not to believe ALL we read in books.
Something most people are not aware - Detlef Garbe's "TRANSLATED ENGLISH version "Between Resistance & Martydom" from 2008 varies in details and comments from the First original in German.
That could be attributed to many reasons we will never know-
One thing that stands out, and we know for a FACT - and makes any critical thinking person take note, is that on the page prior to the "preface pages" on page "xi" under the title - Translator's Note - the Translator, Dagmar G. Grimm - makes some astonishing claims and thank you's that make one wonder how "subjective" could this English Translation be and makes you ask why the changes occured from the original text.
Funny, i wonder if people ask the same question of the Bible and NWT?
I won't go any farther, but based on personal experience, I have be careful before I take for granted numbers, details and opinions of those who were not there and only relying on the interpretation of others.
Liberties are always taken with quotes and comments, but the original thread Question stands as accurate - it's all for a manipulation -
There was MUCH manipulation on behalf of the WTBTS with regards to how they want information viewed at the Holocaust Musuem, one has to just go there to see it.
Come to DC and I will meet you for a cup of Tea!

My parents were BOTH holocaust survivors, I went to DC and had an eye opening visit/talk with the head Historian, Peter Black
THEY (Holocaust Musuem) HAVE THE RECORDS, ALL OF it - less than 1,000 JW's were killed in the Camps, it's all been blown out of proportion,

A question for those that have been around this board for a long time
by JeffT inmy wife and i stopped going to meetings in 1988 and da'd in 1989. for a few years we both actively participated in the xjw world, she quit doing that a long time ago, and has pretty much completely moved on.
the other night i told her about my planned blog (which will probably launch this weekend) it will mostly be about my writing, a lot of which is mostly about jw related issues.
she asked why i am still so drawn to this subject.
