Do You Think Prostitution Should Be Decriminalized?
by minimus inin the us there is a bill in the house of representatives to decriminalize prostitution.
what do you think about that?.

What 2 consenting adults decide to do as long as no one gets hurt, is no ones business. Forced prostitution ie. pimps and traffickers need to be aggressively prosecuted and automatic life sentences should be imposed on them.
Legalizing prostitution will actually make it safer for the providers and the Johns as no one has to be taking risk by hiding and going to dangerous areas; not to mention the tax benefits for the government.
Only very few countries have laws against prostitution. All of North America allows prostitution except for the USA. Even Canada has made prostitution legal. As mentioned already, traffickers and pimps are the ones that need to be prosecuted.

Pray before sex just like you do for food-W62 3/15
by krismalone inthe governing body has lovingly provided instructions and reminders to couples that they should pray before having sex.

"Had he not created the first human pair so that they could cohabit, planted in them an attraction for each other and then commanded them to "be fruitful and become many"? Certainly. Therefore the giving and receiving of marital dues are reasons for thanksgiving, even as are the partaking of food and drink".-Gen. 1:28; 1 Tim. 4:3" -- The WATCHTOWER, March 15, 1962, page 186, "Clerical Celibacy-Weighed in the Balances"

Question for Current and Ex Elders
by Iamallcool inhave you ever reinstate somebody even if they are not that repentant?.

We had a case where a publisher was df for adultery and he moved to another nearby Congregation. He requested to be reinstated and the original judicial committee met with the elders where the df person was attending and we both Interviewed the df person. (The original committee that made the decision to df is the one that makes the decision to reinstate or not, even he attends another Congregation)
We had a total of 4 reinstatement meetings with the original committee (I was part of) and the elders where the df attended and of course the dfd person.
Every single meeting, the dfd person would blame his wife for his adultery and refused to apologize to her. The first 3 meetings we denied his request because we wanted to see him cry and apologize and he didn't do that. Every meeting was 1 month apart as he would immediately write a new letter requesting reinstatement. When the 4th meeting was requested and scheduled, the original committee and his elders were all tired. We just told him he can be reinstated and didn't demand that he apologize to his wife or that he admit his fault. Even in the last meeting he kept blaming his wife for his unfaithfulness and there were rumors he was still sleeping around with other women but we didn't bother to investigate. We took his word when he denied those rumors.
Only 1 elder opposed the decision and pointed out his lack of repentance but the majority overruled him as we just got tired of meeting with him every month and just wanted to go home.
I admit I was one of the elders that just wanted to stop these meetings and let him get reinstated as I was tired as well.
Sorry to disappoint anyone but we all just wanted to get this over with even though he didn't show repentance according to Watchtower. Now I realize it's just a game we were all playing. What a waste of time and invasion of privacy.

Jesus to rule for 1000 yrs yet he started in 1914?
by krismalone ini believe when we were in the jw cult, our brains and thoughts were hijacked by the governing body.
i truly believe the gb thinks all members are stupid and they laugh at them in their wednesday morning secret meetings.. one such teaching that i never heard anyone bring out or question yet the absurdity and contradiction is blatantly obvious is: revelation chapter 20 says that christ will reign for 1000 years.
it doesn't say he will reign more than a thousand yrs but only 1000 yrs.

One such teaching that I never heard anyone bring out or question yet the absurdity and contradiction is blatantly obvious is: Revelation chapter 20 says that Christ will reign for 1000 years. It doesn't say he will reign more than a thousand yrs but only 1000 yrs. Yet the Watchtower Corporation teaches that Jesus started reigning in 1914. That's over 100 yrs ago.
So if Armageddon came in 2020 (just for the sake of argument) jesus would have about 900 yrs left to reign. Yet the JW cult says the 1000 yr reign starts after armageddon but at the same time they say he started to rule in 1914. They teach such nonsense and yet the members just accept it and don't question it. It's terrifying how cult leaders can teach blatant, contradicting doctrines and yet the members just believe it without putting much thought to it.

I attended the International Convention this year (to avoid chaos in family life). The Convention center was right on the middle of downtown St. Louis. The cult members had to stand in line on the public sidewalk before entering the arena. This meant that the JW's could not avoid but listen to what activist were saying while waiting in line.
There were 2 gentlemen each one in different entrances with their megaphones and signs. Once we entered the arena after being searched and screened the JW attendants, the jw's would immediately start asking each other "what was that guy saying?" "What did that sign say," Others would laugh and say the activist were crazy or APOSTATE others would laugh nervously. This happened all 3 days!!
The point I'm making here is JW's DO LISTEN and are INTERESTED in what an activist says even if he's rambling. On average, I would say that each attendee had to wait in line outside for 10-15 minutes before entering! Since the protesters were in a public sidewalk there was no way the JW's could avoid not listening.
The protesters were just rambling on and on about many subjects. None of them had a sign with jwfacts.com (unfortunately). The signs they held said "all JW's willl go to hell unless they accept Jesus". I feel this was a wasted golden opportunity to wake many up or to wet their appetite to start researching the cult.
What would've been efficient?
* Have a sign that said www.jwfacts.com instead of "Jesus saves" or "you're going to hell". These are turn offs to witnesses.
* instead of rambling on and on, use short sweet factual sentences and repeat them 3-4 times before going to the next short and sweet sentence.. Example:
"The Governing Body protects pedophiles".
"The Australian Royal Commission found more than 1000 cases of child sexual abuse in the organization and none were reported to the police".
"The Governing body teaches that Jesus is not your mediator. Research jwfacts.com to verify.
"The organization predicted the end for 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975 and 2000. Research jwfacts.com to verify."
"The Governing Body is paying millions in lawsuits for covering up child abuse. They lost 35 million in Montana and paid 13.5 million in California to Jose Lopez".
The key here is to use short sentences and repeat them 3-4 times. Too bad these protesters were inefficient. They wasted the opportunity to have literally 10-15 minutes of JW's at their mercy and no where to run but the protesters were not prepared properly.
What a shame! Mighty Casey has struck out!
PS: I am against rude and aggressive activists. However the protesters in St. Louis blew the chance of a lifetime to reach the ears of literally thousands without the need of being rude, aggressive or nasty. A simple and repeated message would've made an impact.

The cult manipulates the human need of feeling important. They exploit that human trait by giving out meaningless titles. Thus the cult member feels like a big fish in a tiny pond. By allowing male cult members to have the title of regular pioneer even though he doesn't do anything near the 70 hrs is ok, as long as he serves the cult as an RBC member or now called LDC.
Think about it, if a corporation can get free labor by giving meaningless titles that doesn't cost them a single dollar, then why not? This shows how they really care about having members slave for the cult. The title of Regular Pioneer or full time service has no meaning as you can have that title without doing the service time required for it.
The Governing Body are smart businessmen running a real estate company pretending to be a religion. I don't think there's any other corporation where they reward their members by giving extra work without pay and the member calls it a "blessing". Gotta love this cult!!

What The Fossils Say
by cofty inthe old creation book had a lot to say about the fossil record.
if i remember correctly it was some lie about all the fossils ever found would fit on a single table.
the reality is that there is an embarrassment of riches illustrating the evolution of life.

Westiebilly,
I appreciate your honesty. What convinced me of evolution is that 99% of all animal species to ever walk the earth have disappeared. So where did the current animal species come from? Did God have to refill the earth and create new animals? Why did they disappear if the planet was designed to sustain life?
What about the viruses and bacteria that develop resistance to antibiotics? That's evolution in action. If you believe in creation, you have to believe that Noah brought cockroaches, flies and mosquitoes to the ark (just to mention a few pest that torment humans).
There are remains in the human body that points to evolution. Such as wisdom teeth, tailbone, appendix and goosebumps that serve no purpose for the current human species yet it helped our ancestors to survive millions of years ago.
The universe is indifferent and we will all eventually die. Planets, galaxies and stars die. Why should we expect anything different from humankind?
Let's enjoy the very short journey of life and love our friends and family.

Sexual Morality In The Old Testament Differs From That In The New Testament
by AlanF inconservative christians like the jehovah's witnesses often claim that, like the new testament, the old testament forbids all sexual relations outside marriage, including relations between unmarried people.
that is not quite true.
to see that patriarchal and israelite culture adhered to a different standard, we must first understand just how the old testament treats marriage, sexuality and related items.. the old testament view of women as property.

It's very clear that the Old Testament and New Testament have OPPOSING morals and principles. It's almost as if the Bible was written by men reflecting the social standards of their time.........Nah....couldn't be!
