in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

whathappened
They did that to my exhusband. They came up to him on a Thursday night and said "is there any reason you couldn't serve as an elder?" and he said "no." They announced his appointment that very night. He was blindsided. He managed to serve for about 6 yrs and then stepped down because our marriage was skidding out of control.

Forum Owner and Member Integrity
by Simon insome people recently raised concerns about security of the site relating to whether forum members could be watchtower plants trying to obtain information about people.
apparently, this was because a previous forum that was setup was either owned by or later handed over to someone who used it to collect personal information about people which was then used to harrass them.
i don't know all the details, i'm just paraphrasing what i've heard and recognize that it's a concern to some people.. i want to first of all put people's minds at rest: i've been running this site for what will be 13 years next month.

Simon, this site saved me from insanity when I left in Nov 2010. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you have built here.

The time is near for my families crucification
by Gojira_101 ingood morning jwn-land.. since my parents and my husband and i have learned ttatt we have been keeping quiet, mostly.
we have held off on revealing our true names, my dad has held off joining jwn and telling his story because we have been waiting for one special event.
my dad talking to his mother about ttatt.

Your grandmother reminds me of so many JWs I know. They are extremely judgmental and self righteous. I get the feeling she has judged her own granddaughter as not being a strict enough JW. Something crazy is going on in her head. Perhaps she is just unloving toward her own flesh and blood. She sounds like she could never, ever admit that she is wrong. Too bad, she could have the love of her family but prefers knocking on doors of people who don't appreciate her presence.
My best to you and your family.

Well done informative video of how the Watchtower Corporation psychologically damages people in its intent to control and exploit
by Finkelstein inthis youtube video put out by a once member of the jws, goes into concise detail the extraneous efforts the watchtower corporation intentionally goes into luring people into their organization to only exploit them as its own controlled and subservient sales representatives for their publishing empire.
its a bit long to watch in both parts, it might be a good idea to just not watch it but rather listen to the audio portion alone.
as the video plays along, how many points does this guy hit the nail on the head as to correctly identifying what is really happening and going on in this religious corporate hybrid organization ?.

Obviously he is passionate about the watchtower's dastardly ways.

Report on the DFW Apostafest
by Terry inthe weather for february in texas can be punishing--but, not when apostates gather!.
it was at least 70 degrees and sunshine was spilling out of the heavens like copious golden coins from the fists of midas.. .
i assembled my crew of stalwarts before noon for the drive.

No one can party better than apostates! A gathering is just no fun without them. Wish I could have been there.

First [brief] conversation w/elder for years
by AK - Jeff inin my area, i am labeled an 'active apostate', among other things i am sure.
i live in a very small town, and bump into elders who hate me beyond words.
if they could, i am sure they would gladly stone me before the entire villiage while chanting 'apostate, apostate.'.

The man is a coward. He is afraid of you. He didn't ask why, it was an inappropriate time and place for a discussion. I would honestly complain to the store manager. This was not right for him to approach you while you were there shopping. He crossed a line he shouldn't have. You are probably too nice to get him in trouble, I bet.

long time lurker (3-4 years) first time poster
by Patient-dude inhey i have come to love some of the discussions on here and the information.
i am currently awake and have no plans to fade, in my case i am patient enough to in time become an elder to at least help the younger friends here in my area, in the sense of helping them wake up/if elder have their back..

Welcome to the group. Hope you reconsider and focus on your own life and stop wasting precious time trying to help others "wake up.". As stated more eloquently by previous posters, there is too much time commitments demanded of the brothers. You will regret it, I believe.
Here on JWN, you can help people wake up from the comfort of your own easy chair, dressed in your pjs. It has the same satisfaction for most of us. We all want to help others out of this cult, but to lead a life faking it is a bit much.
