Good for you, getting out of not one, but two cults, and at such an early age.
Your father belongs in jail, by the way.
So sorry your parents were such hypocrites.
i'm new here, so i thought i'd start with an introduction and summary of my life, for the most part.
i have a tendancy to ramble ridiculously, so bear with me :) and this will be all over the place as thoughts take over the keyboard.. i was born a 5th generation jw.
i never really "felt" it, but was book smart about it.

informed consent is a common phrase in medicine and related law.
the term means a patient knows all relevant facts and is mentally capable of making decisions about his or her care.
(see wikipedia.com informed consent).
Data dog: thanks, I have tried to get her out but she is married to a dub and they are happy. Meanwhile, they are raising my grandson in this cult. YUK! Thanks for your encouragement, I do hope this July 15th study edition rattles her as we have discussed this and she seemed like she didn't believe me.
Good to hear your kid is listening.

I could not open the link for some reason but wanted to add my two cents.
I was raised in this religion and am 59 years old right now. I never knew any of the true history of the Watchtower Society. I have been baptized since 1971 and just found out the truth about the truth about two and a half years ago. I raised my kid in this fraud of a religion. I even asked right before I was baptized about the modern history of the organization and was told that some people got together to study the Bible and discovered that none of the churches were teaching what the Bible taught. They started the Society. That sounded good to me so I went ahead and got baptized. I am so mad that I didn't get taught the true story about how this religion began, even though I did ask.
i don't really know what to say i'm a bit nervous.
but i am new here and i want to say thank you all for these forums and the many contributions people have made.. for about 9 months i been frequenting here and other places on the net while i have undergone an in depth bible analysis.
after finding that my bible is not consistant with the more favorable options of translating greek words especially in key doctinal areas, i have concluded the great unlikelyhood of jehovah's witnesses having god's blessing and approval.. not just that though.
Welcome new friend. Loved hearing your story.
i'm curious, as where i reside there's about to be a major brouhaha over the tax exempt status of a major player in this area.
reading and hearing the arguments from both sides conjured thoughts about the tax exempt status of religions and the arguments associated with that issue.
a significant portion of the arguments related to that issue center around how a tax exempt organization benefits it's community.
What good they do is done with the motive of making converts. Lies are never a good thing and the Watchtower is full of lies.
let me tell you a very weird story, .
.
recently, i met a nice good looking lady that share the same first and last name as that ugly lady.
Do you thinks it is the same woman? Maybe she had an extreme makeover.
are you prepared to apologise even when it is not you fault?.
.
uun .
What would you apologize for??? Not being a JW? Did I miss something?
The man was surely a comic genius.
while one might expect to have girl scouts trying to sell you things outside walmart.
today i brought my son to the walmart grocery store and as we were getting out of our car, mormons approached us.. they asked if i knew who they were.
and if i'd talked to them before.
Isn't it fun talking to someone with similar backgrounds and helping to enlighten them.
so i have followed all of your advise as far as not talking religion, just showing love etc.... she has missed the last 3 meetings and i have not said anything like "are you going?
" etc.... she's a born in/active and our relationship has gotten so much better after i faded completely...no guilt trip/pressure about preparing for meetings as a family, service, etc.... tuesday was a huge sign for me...she has meetings tuesday nights and she was planning on going, but, her coworker called her offering 2 tickets to go see our local baseball mlb team and guess what?....she told me lets go!!!
i was like wtf?...in my mind i was like wow, you're gonna miss your 3rd meeting in a row!
This certainly does sound hopeful, especially wanting to have kids. Keep doing what you are doing. Let us know how it goes along.
