Thank you so much for posting this. I am glad I am not forced to shun my loved ones any longer, now that i am out. I shunned my mother in law and father in law and they died before I found out ttatt. They were disfellowshipped for smoking in the early 70's. My husband and I only let them see our daughter once a year for a couple of hours. This went on for twenty years. I feel deep regret for my ignorance, there is nothing I can do now. People wonder why I hate the Watchtower Society, this is just one of the many reasons why.

Show me something better
by WildeLover interry started a really good thread a little while ago.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/258731/1/where-did-pastor-russell-get-his-truth.
it reminded me of what the jw who studied with me and brought me into the truth said.. she said show me something better.
she qualified this by saying show me another religion that teaches the basics.. i changed subject but i suppose basics are.

Atheism is much better, in my humble opinion than beging a JW. I am stress free.

Are you thankful to know TTAT or not?
by laverite ini am so thankful that i was able to learn the truth about the truthtm (ttatt).
i owe everything in my life to having left watchtower corp: my education, my position as a college professor, being able to write and publish, travel, family life, my beautiful children, being able to be openly gay -- and happy.
unlike those closeted homosexuals in the truthtm, i do not have to be afraid to be who i am.

Yes, after getting over the initial feeling of shock and betrayal, I am happier than ever after learning the truth about the truth.

you probably would say, 'i didn't abandon him, i can still serve him on my own.

This letter is infuriating. It upsets me so. If self righteousness was a disfellowshipping offense, there wouldn't be a Witness in good standing to hold the meetings.
Great comeback, Terry.

Where did Pastor Russell get his TRUTH?
by Terry inmost jehovah's witnesses are aware there once lived a man named russell and he had something to do with the early years of their religion.. but, generally, interest in the early days is almost non-existent.
after all, nobody was running around calling themselves jehovah's witnesses, so what difference does any of that really make?.
russell and the origins of jw doctrines are, as a result of this total black out of curiousity, hidden and permanently obscured.. in fact, the only time charles taze russell is discussed is because some expose' by an apostate has raised a stink.. admitedly, most anti-jw books seek to dredge up scandals, lawsuits, accusations and failed predictions swirling around russell's ministry.. in my own opinion, none of that is half as interesting as the missing part of the equation: where from did pastor russell get his truth?.

it's just so strange to recall the conversation yesterday.

Hi everyone !!!
by Durden ini am durden.. a teenager that is an unbaptized publisher and is trying to leave this damn cult !!!.
i have been lurking here for some time and i decided to start posting with this intro.. im from europe, both my parents are jw's, my parents are both teachers (math teachers).. my parents are "softcore" jw's, they accept all my questions and try to answer them.. i am trying to "convert" my dad (an elder which might complicate things), me and my dad recently had various discussions about the org ("discussions" on the good sense of the word).. we talked about jehovah in the nt, 1975, 1914, gb in 1st century, the cross, "new lights" ..., you know the usual stuff.. and all is going well i think, i think i can "convert" him until the end of summer.. i mean is a logical man, what can go wrong ?
man, when i found jwfacts it was like my world had collapsed, all thoses lies .... but its good now to have found the truth.

Welcome to the group.
Sounds like you are doing a good job with your dad already. Just keep asking questions.
How about Mum?
