New Forum Layout
by Awake at last ini suffer from depression and have also been diagnosed with asperger's syndrome, so it is not surprising that about 20 minutes ago i was feeling very depressed about the new look of my favourite ex jw forum, that is, this one.
i have been living under a rock obviously because i had no idea any change was about to happen.. now i am beginning to understand how it works, everything is ok or soon will be.
i like the like button and have already used it once.. now you understand why i left the borg.

Thank you for pointing out the LIKE button. That is what I was wishing for. We need a tutorial on how to find things. -

Thanks!
by Lightgrowsbrighter inthanks to all of the friends here at jwn who commented and encouraged me on my 1st and 2nd post.
it was pointed out that my 1st post was on page 5 of the recent elders thread and that i should properly introduce myself with a new thread.
the lightgrowsbrighter name is somewhat of play on words.

By calling what you said "apostacy" he ended the unpleasant conversation, didn't he? Their love and caring is totally conditional on you towing the line. I was shunned before I left simply because I was a singe white sister in an almost all black congregation and wasn't a pioneer.

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

High court ruling in favor of JW children
by karter innew zealand hearld this morning.. a judge has stopped the children of a jw from going to church and attending witness meetings and allowed them to attend birthday parties and christams celebrations.. the high court ruling comes after the childrens seperated parents appealed against the family court orders regarding custody details.. i think the wts will push this to the supreme court.. .
karter.. .

This is good news. Glad the kids can have a halfway normal childhood, but the JW parent will ruin it by making them feel guilty about celebrating holdidays. No fun allowed in JWland!

A public thank you to Joe Grundy
by Pams girl ini have been going through the most terrible time these past 4 weeks, which has nothing to do with the jw, and everything to do with being abandoned with anxiety, panic and agoraphobia, and a new diagnoses of an illness called pmdd, which robbed me of my career, and it seems, my marriage, as my husband has moved out and left me with our son.
this man, this "stranger", jumped in his car to offer me support, and travelled 2 hours to be with me, despite what was going on with him, just be with me for a few hours and try to help.
what an amazing selfless act.

The Christmas fence
by Tech49 inso i noticed something the other day on facebook.. a group of "sisters" in several neighboring congregations got their young daughters together for a "girls day", to spend some quality time together.
now this group, of whom i know many, is composed mainly of elders' and ministerial servants' wives.
the general theme, or focus of the "party" was to build gingerbread houses with the kids.. ok, no big deal right?

My daughter and son in law (both claim to be devout JWs) go to his parents house on December 25th and eat a nice fancy dinner and they all have presents for one another wrapped in winter themed (not Xmas) gift wrap. They also get together on Thanksgiving for an elaborate dinner (not celebrating at all, you see).
One poster on Facebook Ex JW Recovery Group said this was celebrating "fractions" of Xmas so it was OK. I loved that idea!!!
