They must be thrilled. When we went about 7 years ago, we literally emptied out our wallets into the contribution box. They are loving the donations, I bet.

Brooklyn Bethel Tours Through The Roof
by freemindfade inwas speaking with someone last night who just recently toured the us bethel's.
the brooklyn tour i heard was awful, very limited and disappointing and conducted by a local pioneer and not even a bethelite.
well from what they are telling the folks on the tour since the tm3 bit encouraging (guilting) people about going to disneyland on vacation when you haven't visited bethel, monthly tours went from 6000 to 16000!

Our assembly expenses were $16,900 for ONE DAY - Please share yours
by nmthinker in~2300 in attendance.
one day cost of $16,900!.
this was at romeoville, which was built ground up in the 90's and was fully paid for by the illinois circuits!.

I used to attend that assembly hall in Romeoville, IL. I thought the building was too commercial looking. It is gigantic and has a big outdoor area that is very high maintenance. No wonder the expenses are so high. Whoever set that assembly hall up definitely didn't keep their "eye simple." This seemed like a waste of "dedicated funds" to me at the time, even though I was still deeply into the org.

CO Comes Up With A New Way To Be Judgemental...
by JW_Rogue inat the latest co visit something very strange happened.
during the meeting with the elders and servants he passed out a copy of a hypothetical publisher card and asked us what we could learn from it.
upon receiving it i saw that the average hours were pretty good, it had return visits and quite a few bible studies.

We were told to come to the meetings for field service even if we were not going to go out in service. That sounded crazy but no one challenged it and no one followed through either. Just another crazy cult experience. -

Why JWs record and report time?
by ThinkerBelle inokay, so yes, i'm a born-in, but this point has always baffled me (and i guess i never bothered to research or ask).
what is the purpose of counting time in service?
when was it started and why?

It certainly is a good way for the elders to keep tab on those who are weak in the ministry. It is all indeed, a matter of control. They control your behavior because you have to report every month. It makes you form a mindset that is beneficial to the cult. -

Need advice
by Darkknight757 inhi.i've been pouring over this site for the past few days looking for some advice and i hope there is someone here that can help a guy out.
i'm desperate.....short bio: i came into the organization after high school and shortly after married a wonderful girl who was born-in.we have been happily married now for nearly 20 years and things were well until 2015 hit.
by the way, i currently serve as an elder and have the ""privilege"" of being the "watchtower overseer".. either here nor there, we were told we would never have children but late last year my wife became prego!!

I have lost a newborn baby and it was a horrible experience. No one who has not experience it can truly understand how painful it is to lose a loved and wanted child.
As the spiritual head, you could direct the family study night to subjects that are, well, kinda eye opening.
I would study www.jwfacts.com and use that as a guide. Do the blood issue and the many, many Pharisaical doctrine that there is no scriptural backing for. There are tons things, such as birthdays, the qualifications for elders/MS, etc that you can use. (ie., where does it say that a person has to have 10 hours a month of FS to qualify for a MS, etc.)
Maybe you could gently lead her down a path that will lead her out of her own spiritual darkness.

48th ANNIVERSARY of me GOING TO PRISON
by Terry ini was twenty years old.. as a jehovah's witness, i had no career path ahead of me, no college to attend, and no prospect for my future other than.
knocking on people's doors and scanning the horizon for signs of armageddon:).
i was engaged to a 17-year-old witness girl i had met at the mineral wells assembly.. what was our future together?
