my name is christian and my wife is katja, and we have been out of the organization for a year and a half.

we were both regular pioneers and i was a ministerial servant.

we were very much happy to be witnesses and doing our best to do more for the organization.

Should I get babtized?

i know this sounds like a ridiculous question but i was talking with my mom in the car today and of course we got on the topic of getting babtized again.

she told me that jehovah holds me accountable for my sins regardless of wether i am babtized or not so i have no reason to be holding back because it won't change anything.

my parents are the type of super strict jw who will shun you just for not being a witness.

You are in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Don't do it. Don't get dunked. Play with the baptism ?s and the elders won't let you get baptised.

DA: Today I used my typewriter and fountain pen

last week my mother (i live with her) gave me some clues that she finally awoke, and well, that came to be true and we now speak openly against many many things i considered taboo to talk to her.

so with that achieved, it was time for a delayed duty, i took my typewriter one wrote my da letter, and signed it with my favorite fountain pen, with my "trade mark" royal blue ink (everyone in the hall knew me for using that color and type of pen).

i will hand it to the elders tomorrow, in february 14th, the "day of love".

Stepping out of the shadows

i have been lurking on the site for a few months and thought it about time i plucked up the courage to step out of the shadows and say hello.. i am in the process of fading after realizing all is not right with the organization i had trusted implicitly for over 40 years.

there have always been 'truths' i have struggled to accept entirely, even as a child, but was confident that trusting in jehovah, building my faith and remaining patient would be enough to settle any nagging doubts that remained, so i pushed any inconsistencies to the back of my mind and concentrated on being the best witness that i could be.. over the last few years, however, i have been preoccupied with a number of crises in my family and stepping back slightly from 'theocratic' activity has allowed me to re evaluate a number of concerns and research sources other than the sanitized wt publications.. my eyes are now wide open - i found things which have appalled me and left me feeling extremely let down and disappointed by people i had really trusted.. i tried gently raising a few subjects with my mum (who was baptized early '70s and still remains a staunch wt supporter) but she will hear no criticism of the organization.

i understand this because the best part of her life has been invested in the religion and to acknowledge it may have got things wrong would be to recognize the last 40 years have been a vain waste.

Finally posting and I'm FRUSTRATED!!!

okay, i'm about to engage in a major word vomit.

just giving you fair warning as your time may be better spent somewhere else.. so, i'm sitting on my lunch break, bawling my eyes out, and writing on this forum to people i don't know yet probably have a great deal in common with but at the same time, used to scare the daylights out of me.

for years, i would come across this forum and 'lurk' awhile if you will, or see things on youtube.

Lurkers: Is it true that no servant of Jehovah in the bible celebrated birthdays?

did you know that job's family celebrated birthdays?

the word translated "his own day" at job 1:4 is the same word translated "day of his birth" in job 3:1. .

seems deceptive, does it not, to change that translation.

Don't know what to do

i'm in a crazy situation.

about a year ago, i was going to get baptized.

it was all planned and arranged until ttatt was learned.

For one thing, the elders won't let you get baptised unless you are doing well and getting in service. My nephews were both not allowed to get baptised because their hair wasnt short enough!!!

As long as you screw up when you go over the questions for baptism with the elders and maybe tell the elders that you don't feel ready, there isn't much your dad can do, is there?

Warwick project "ahead of schedule?"

this is what a brother said at the meeting today.

he has been working there as a volunteer.

but my impression was that the toxic waste debacle set the project back seriously.

Another poster said the reason they are ahead of schedule is because they have downsized the project, cutting out a great deal of unnecessary features.
