UN & Watchtower : link deleted....
by yalbmert99 inhi everyone, someone just made me notice that the pdf document on the u.n. website proving that the watchtower associated itself as ngo from 1991(demand) to 2001 has been deleted or is missing.
http://www.un.org/dpi/ngosection/pdfs/watchtower.pdf i sent an email (very short since they don't allow more than 200 characters) to the un to inquire.
i doubt that they'll respond.i suspect that the watchtower pressured the un to deleted that link.....

A question to the ex-JW's...
by losthobbit ini'm curious about what made you realize that your ex-religion was not "true"?.
i've had discussions with many religious people, and they're always trying to protect their beliefs, rather than allowing anything i say challenge what they believe.
was there ever something someone said to you, or something you read that maybe made you doubt your beliefs for the first time, or had a similar effect?.

I agree with Millions, but could never have stated it so concisely. I knew when I decided I needed to buy hipboots to wade through the profuse crap that had built up over my 56 years of being raised in this crazy ass religion. I got the guts to quit cold turkey when I saw Russells grave pryamid and found out from my sister that the decisions of the governing body were not always unanimous. That they needed a 2/3's majority. How could Jehovah's mouthpiece not be in 100% agreement? The boat I was riding in sank and sank fast.

A baptism question for Morbidzbaby (and the rest of ya'll).....
by Mr. Falcon ini read morbidzbaby's comment on the post http://www2.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/206838/1/a-question-to-the-ex-jws were she said that she got baptized "hoping that it would sort everything out".
this got me thinking about the whole jw ritual of baptism and dedication.
i look back and recall that i never privately "dedicated" myself to anything or anyone before taking the "dip".. the wt teaching is that a person should privately dedicate (via prayer) themselves to jehovah before publically going through the ritual.

My mother forced me to study with a pioneer sister for 3 years when I was 13 years old. She said she just couldn't study with me herself, saying that it would lead to arguments. No other option but to get baptised. No other religion was allowed to be considered. Of course I thought I was doing the right thing. The literature makes everyone who isn't a JW out to be evil personified. I was truly dedicated to Jehovah but know realise I dedicated my self to an organization. I was only 16 and believed I was mature enough to decide what was to be for the rest of my life. All my friends basically fell into the same scenario. No other options were presented or allowed. Decision is made.

Re: Only using one sheet of toilet paper at assemblies
by Luo bou to ini have been living in china for several years now and my only fear was that one day, i would need to use one of their squat toilets.
i cant squat that close to the ground but the chinese can with their feet flat on the ground and without raising their heels .
so the day finally came when for several weeks i was forced to use one.

This post should go in the humor section. "Flush toilets are part of Satan's system." That is so JW, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that one day out of Brooklyn.

Dear Paula,
Walk away thankful that you narrowly missed the pitfall so many of us here have been in for decades. Find a new geat life for yourself. I envy your position. Make the most of it. Forgive yourself for leaving your mother. Remember Jesus said while dying on the torture stake, something along the line of "forgive them father for they do not know what they are doing." You would forgive your child. She would forgive you, her precious daughter.

How far are you on your journey away from the JW Org?
by punkofnice ini mentally left the org in march 2010. i stepped down as an elder after my lad got into trouble.
i researched the publications to make myself 'spiritually strong' but it backfired.. i was in mental and emotional turmoil, still on fs, the platform and meetings etc.
i had to force myself to conform to ever failing jw doctrine.. i announced to my family that i was not going back to meetings in august 2010 after the 'overlapping' joke of 'new light'.. i told the elders not to call.

whathappened
It will be 4 months since I have been in field service and 3 months exactly since I've been to a meeting. I being a single middle aged woman was invisable when I was in. I have had two calls from "concerned elders." Both calls lasted less that 2 mintues. I told them I wasn't coming back, declined their offer to study and visit with them. I probably will never enter the kingdom hall again, not even for a funeral of a beloved relative. The organisation is bloodguilty and has litterally enslaved people for their entire existance. I always had doubts, but believed them when they made excuses and fervently kept saying they were Jehovah's earth visable organisation. Otherwise, I would have been out a lot earlier. I still love the people from the congreations, they are misled as I was. I did it too. Turned a blind eye to all the inconsistancies and preposterous scriptural interpretations. No longer, my dears...no longer.

This is terrible. I just emailed my daughter the other night and told her to log on and see for herself. I have a copy of the letter, but it has to come straight from the UN's web site to be credible. I emailed them from the contact link so kindly provided in a previous post on this thread. Thanks for calling this to everyones attention.

One morning we were on our way to the district assembly. We see this nicely dressed young couple in this nice car. The man was driving like a maniac. They were weaving in and out of lanes, cutting people off. When we got to the parking lot, who is there? This same guy. Then to top it off, he's actually one the program, he's a Ministerial Servant giving an experience. We were shocked.

Share Your Tales of Annoying Car Group Advice
by DarioKehl inohhhh.... do i ever have loads of these stories!
i pioneered in the mid-90's (mostly out of guilt and fear and hope to pacify my parents before dropping the "i wanna go to college" bombshell on them, but i digress...) and i gotta tell ya, it was the most frustrating 2 years of my life!
at that time, there were over 20 of us as many my age recently graduated high school to "join the ranks" (as the co at the time said).

You all know how we our counseled not to wear perfume or fragrence when we go to the meeting? Well, I was driving the car group of 4 and we are out making return visits with this older couple who walk around like they have a stick up their rear ends. Suddenly, the wife, in a very low, demanding, negtive voice says "Who's wearing perfume?" First off, it was my car she was riding around in and I thought that was terribly rude. Just another rule, upon rule, upon rule that was broken. Which is the greater sin, wearing a fragrence or outright rudeness and lack of appreciation?
