No one gave me one. I live in a complex that says no soliciting on the door. I guess Jehovah will rightfully have to destroy all who live in such residences.

New Handbill Campaign
by NoRegrets inapparently the jws are doing a new handbill campaign.
they were just at my door and offered it to me with one of their heartless and scripted presentations.
the religion has just become so dumbed down.

Interview with an Apostate: Simon
by Simon ini had an idea for coming up with a standard(ish) set of interview questions which members of the ex-jw community could use to provide insights into their lives as a kind of series (yeah, i was thinking of "interview with a vampire", lol).. anyway, this is the result to show the sort of thing i'm thinking of (applied to myself) and i'd like feedback on the format and the questions as well as who you'd also like to see "interviewed".. feel free to provide your own life story as a separate topic or ask any additional questions that i've missed.
it's not meant to be rigid so questions / themes can be adapted as needed and split / joined as appropriate.
the common questions will hopefully apply to everyone for some consistency and to guide the writing process with additional questions asked that make sense to each subject.. well, here goes .... tell us a little about yourself and your family.. im an independent software developer who grew up in manchester (uk) but now lives in calgary (canada) with my wife angharad and two boys, liam and dylan.

Letter I wrote to the person the caused me to be disfellowshipped
by jwfacts ina thread on another forum reminded me of a letter i wrote to the person that went to the elders and started the proceedings to have me disfellowshipped.
i stopped believing in the religion when i was 25 but continued going for about ten years.
i finally started to fade at 35, but about 6 months after i had stopped going to meetings, a person wrote a letter to the elders about my website, which at the time was anonymous.

Great letter and not only have you helped thousands leave, but you have helped them leave happily, assured that the Watchtower is NOT God's Visable Earthly Organisation!
Job well done, thanks again for helping all us truth seekers.

I'm Returing To Become A Jehovah's Witness Again
by Space Madness ina little background, i faded in 2007 and have been out ever since.
i started studying at 18 and have no jw realitives.
i'm returing because my life is heading in the wrong direction.

Best wishes to you Space Madness, even though I don't see how cult life is going to ever make anyone truly happy. You give over your authentic self to the cult leaders, aka the governing body. You know longer make decisions about what to do and how to live your life based on your own feelings.
I would never go back to the Kingdom Hall and have found friends elsewhere. None of them are drunks or drug users. They like me not based on my sharing their religios views, but on me, the real me and only me.
Have you tried the United Universalist Church in your area? I hear that they are wonderful.

I have read the book "The Atheists Book of Bible Stories" and have read "the thinking atheist" website. It makes more sense to me than anything I ever read anywhere in a Watchtower publication.

by BluePill2 inbefore i dive into the actual write-up of this experience, let me put some things straight.. i have thought long and hard if i should write more about my experiences during the 10+ years at different branches.
during these years i worked from financial department, service department, home office and different it assignments.
as you can imagine one sees and hears and reads a lot of stuff going through different stations in different countries.

YOU WILL NEVER SEE THESE ACTS EVER MENTIONED IN A WATCHTOWER PUBLICATION
by steve2 infaking of hours in field service or dragging service time out by making coffee stops or driving for hours "between" household contacts are never frowned upon, let alone mentioned, in the publications.
.
yet, in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses, to one degree or another, faking hours, padding time out with coffee stops and long journeys between opportunities to "witness" are endemic practices..

In one congregation I know, the young pioneers do a 24 hour Field Service. They all jump in a van and head down the interstate highway and stop at truck stops and gas stations. They take turns driving and don't return until they have 24 hours. This of course is a very social time and probably for flirting and for dating without really dating purposes.
