i know there are many active jw's here and was just wondering if anyone is going to take advantage of april's special of only 30 hours for the month.. i actually might, just to irk some of the elders that can't figure me out in their minds.. it would involve 2 long days ... that's it.
even i can go out in fs in the morning with the group and hang out at bus stops and train stations the rest of the day.. i am really tempted.. rub a dub.

a number of years ago i started doing something i had never done before.. i started questioning the basic premise of things which cause arguments.. why?.
long running controversy usually contains a hidden premise both sides buy into without knowing it.. by backing up one whole step and questioning the basis for the hidden premise the problem quickly goes away.. .
it looks yummy.
Yes, the JWs present themselves as a "moderate" and "loving" religion, and it is not until you get baptised that you realize you have been "hooked" and can't get out without your family being ripped apart.
The "hook" is baptism. If you never get baptised, you can never get df'd or da'd.
Then, of course, if I knew then what I know now, I would have never set foot into a kingdom hall.
Unfortunately, I was born in.

it was very interesting.... of course, the first thing i noticed was the building.
very different from a "kingdom hall" - this catholic church is in an extremely modern, six-sided building.
as one enters the building, their "holy water" font - fountain(???
Hi Zid,
Mr Satinka and I accompanied our friends to a Catholic Mass for Christmas once. Very formal. And because our friends are not married, they were not allowed to partake of the communion, even though they are regular church attenders. We did not go up to the front to partake, either. We are not Catholic. We are not married, either, so we would not be allowed. Catholics have quite a lot of rules to follow.
In the past, after leaving the jws, I have attended different kinds of churches...Christian Alliance Churches (shudder...too much like the jws), several New Age Churches (at least three different ones), Baptist Church (kinda harsh like the jws, too ), United Churches (most "moderate" and "inclusive" of all, in my experience).
I began thinking that church was not for me. I never really felt like I "belonged."
We are not church attenders any longer. Best thing we like to do is go for a walk in nature to feel connected.
Oh, and interestingly...I have "goddess" cards that I draw once a week or so, for inspiration!

im reading ray franz's book crisis of conscience!
it is brilliant!
he brings out some amazing points as to the credibility of the governing body!

i was doing some research yesterday on this scripture: 1 corinthians 4:6!.
"now, brothers, these things i have transferred so as to apply to myself and a?pollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.".
read this from the watchtower 2008, april 15th, page 7:.
If we never went beyond what was written, there would be no growth.
But the elders use that scripture to keep sheeple in the jw box.
Oh yeah, the WT does not want anyone to grow. That's what the the practice of shunning is all about, I guess.

just this past week i went to see a jbub relative that was in the hospital.
there was an elder there from her hall.
he was probably there for support but also to make sure no blood was used.
What was I thinking? ...JWs have no respect
satinka
i think i am but am not exactly sure what it means..
One more thing...I have re-framed my definitions of "spiritual" from when I was JW.
I used to define myself as spiritual when:
1. I read my Bible (I don't read it anymore, unless I'm refuting some old jw belief)
2. I went in service ... Like bookpeddling makes anyone spiritual!
Just to give you an example of what I mean.

most people in my life that know how frequent i post on this forum find it very troubling.
i have often been accused of "not being able to let go.
" i don't agree that i post here because i'm not willing to let go, i think i post here because i think this place helps other people and i want to be part of it.
I have to keep explaining that I am still in healing mode and it is important to question myself... and learn who I really am...view myself through my own eyes, instead of how the WT sees me.
It's about finding my own identity.

Lots of people choose not to choose --- out of fear of choosing. The fear paralyzes them. After all, fear is a paralyser.
That's one reason for sheeple to stay in cults. Then elders can make their choices for them.

How dare he step into your yard, then shun you!
Where is the respect?!?! JWs have no sense of "boundaries" I have noticed.
