Leaving left my religion

about me, i am being raised in a jw family.
all of my family expect for one aunt, who had left but not disfellowedshiped thankly, are in jw.
my father is an elder and so is my grandfather.
The term "compassionate" is just brainwash. The jws believe they are "loving" also...More brainwash.
Welcome AndySmiles!

my friend gave me a book she had, called "facing codependence" by pia mellody.
it's not a new book but sounded interesting, so i started reading it this morning.
after 20 pages, i put the book down & started bawling.
Great video, Blondie. Thanks for sharing!
Letting go of the shame (unfairly put upon us as children) is truly a necessary step.

Dear Love2Bworldly,
Why do you think you are codependent? Is it just because someone in authority TOLD you that? Doctors can and do mis-diagnose.
If you really are codependent, then I say yes, you can successfully overcome it. In order to do so, you must break old patterns of thinking and learn healthy new beliefs about living life.
One thing for sure: stop BLAMING yourself for your perceived failures. You did the best you could with what you knew at the time. With experience you will learn healthier ways, but stop being so hard on yourself in the meantime.
Find something in the library about loving the SELF. If you learn to love yourself and validate your own worth, it is easier to let go of self-blame. Loving the self will give you confidence that comes from inside your SELF, rather than being an approval sponge. Live for YOU and not for others. You can still be in a relationship (if you want) but you don't have to stay in a sick one. The choice is yours. Give yourself permission to make your own decisions.
Keep in touch and let us know how it is going.

cases i was thinking about today- the printing of literature for mass distribution and further the existence of bethel and branch complexes world wide along with kingdom halls(early christians just met in homes).
if you say you follow the bible, how do you create things like this that have no precedent in the bible?
.
And the JWs being a "channeled" religion, even though channeling is demonized by the religion.

i have been threatening to publish a book about growing up in the jw religion, then leaving as a mature adult.

we are growing older and have developed illnesses we never imagined would touch us.
if you (or a family member or acquaintance) have been diagnosed with heart disease .
1) what was your reaction to the diagnosis?
My health has never been better. I've done much good healing since leaving the old belief system in my dust.
The df'ing was the anchor point where I could turn around toward good health.
The religion was going to kill me if I didn't heal those old harmful beliefs.

yet another update on my story:.
for various reasons, i still have to go to all meetings.
(i am looking to change my personal circumstances to allow me to live somewhere else so i can fade easier)... i actually don't mind going to the mid-week meeting since i can comment on the bible reading, and slowly but surely i can introduce little seeds of cognitive dissonance... making it seem like i am super interested in what the interlinear says or that people can actually go and check out the manuscripts for themselves online!
Good wishes on those job interviews! Let us know how it goes!
