I haven't been here for quite a while, but this subject drew my attention. A few weeks ago I went to the hospital for a colonoscopy and minor surgery. While preparing to go to the O.R. I was asked if I would accept a blood transfusions. I have been inactive for 13 years, but still, I hesitated a moment before agreeing. Most of my family, including my wife and married son are active JW, so accepting a transfusion would surely impact our relationship. My daughter in law works at that hospital and she was able to access the hospital surgery schedule where my name was listed. It left me wondering if she could access my confidential medical records...

What Is The Position Of Witnesses For People Who Are Inactive And Don’t Want To Be Bothered By Anyone?
by minimus ini used to have some close friends simply pay me a friendly visit or call to see how i was doing.. i am curious as to whether or not the society instructed witnesses to no longer check on inactive ones and treat them as marked or disfellowshipped..

Newsheep, we had a DO by the name of Russell Reed, so I was intrigued to know if it was the same person...I guess not.

Newsheep, I know Russell and Randy Reed from way back in Montreal. What is this about writing a book and being apostate?

Newsheep, pull the menu list at the right of the page and at the bottom where it says sign out, next to your name there should be an envelope with your number of messages...just click on it.

Newsheep...I sent you a message...
I have been inactive for 10 years and when the elders came for a visit after I hadn't been to meetings for a year I told them I knew where the hall was and had their phone number, but I needed to be left alone. I haven't heard from them again. I have attended two or three wedding receptions and one funeral and everyone greeted me as when I went to the meetings. My wife is active and 3 years ago we move in a new area and I have not been contacted by the elders there either.

Will "social distancing" help JWs wake up.
by Tantalon inwith the existing and still to come covid19 lock downs in many countries i wonder if not being obliged to attend meetings and field service will give many jws the opportunity to clear their mind a little and start to see the cracks.
i know they will be expected to log on to their devices but with no one other than family to monitor this it could be a circuit breaker for many.
of course the fear of end times pestilence may counter that.

No. It's become an opportunity to rehearse for the great tribulation. Tomorrow my wife will watch the meeting on Zoom at my son's home. Last week she connected on the phone to listen to a talk given somewhere in Florida and we're in Canada. I have seen Facebook posts from JWs saying how the governing body works hard to protect them and how they should obey to be safe. This pandemic is making JW delusional about who can really save them and I have to resist telling them that the Watch Tower doesn't do anything at all to support the medical field and research, which is the only hope to get through this.

Can single sisters get Breast Augmentation?
by friedchicken ini am curious can a single jw sister get a breast augmentation?
will the elders disfellowship her?
will jehovah be angry with her or upset?

I personally know of a pioneer sister who had breast augmentation surgery a few months before her wedding. It was kept a secret even to her fiancé...So if no one knows there's no issues.

Upon learning of a terminal illness would you return to being a JW to appease your family?
by NVR2L8 inthis is an hypothetical question...i am doing well.
but i was thinking about how my jw family, grandchildren and all will feel when their inactive grandfather dies with no hope of being reunited in paradise.
of course there would be immediate rejoicing if i came back to the "truth" and a surge of conditional love from the "friends".

Thanks for your interesting answers. To be clear, I am in good terms with my whole family, including my brother who's an elder. They know I no longer believe and we leave religious matters out of our comversations. I have no intention in returning but I was just thinking of how my family would react if I "returned" even for a short time before the permanent vacation. It would be really hard to pretend that I believe again...

Of course there would be immediate rejoicing if I came back to the "truth" and a surge of conditional love from the "friends". After I am gone all would hold the hope of seeing me resurrect which would make my passing less painful than facing the permanency of death. In reality my dying wish would be that they all realize this life is all we have so they shouldn't be wasting it prisoners of a cult...what do you think?
