To the office is 60 km each way and usually takes me 45 min. I ride my motorcycle in the summer and I take the back roads. I often travel by plane and my longest fllight is 16.5 hours to Asia...but typically 4 hour flights.

"I just want to keep them alive."
by cedars indoes anyone ever feel this way when they see older family members (parents, grandparents etc) growing old or experiencing failing health?.
do you ever feel that you should be able to somehow keep them alive - and feel frustrated and hopeless that you can't?.
cedars.

Cedars, I remember a time when I firmly believed my whole family would survive Armageddon and we would all be together in the new system. As years flew by, we all got older, then dad passed away suddenly a few months short of becoming a great grandfather. Last Tuesday I spoke with mom on the phone and she mentioned that an old single pioneer sister had passed away at 95...there was a silence and mom said 'we're all going that way...there is no escape'! I was quite surprised to hear my 79 year old pioneer mother say that. Usually it's 'the end is near or I can't wait to greet dad in paradise' . Not this time...I guess she must realize that there's a strong probability that she will know death. Today I realize that my relationship with mom was totally controlled by the cult and I wish just for a short moment I could talk to her heart, not her brainwashed mind before she dies.

Boundary Changes for Congregations and Secrecy
by Vienna Angelika inright now the congregations in winnipeg are undergoing major boundary changes which will be put in action at the beginning of february.
our congregation is supposed to find out today but i decided to ask some people i knew who went the previous meeting if we were going to be put together with the people at our old congregation who are shunning me.
even though they knew, they refused to tell me because "the society" told them not to tell us.

JWs have not "disfellowshipped" anyone publicly in several years
by RayPublisher inif you want to get technical, jws have not "disfellowshipped" anyone publicly in several years.
they stopped saying,.
"joe blow has been disfellowshipped.

They do this so JWs can't make the distinction between those who leave the truth from those who are expelled for wrongdoing...both groups end up getting shunned regardless of their actions. The other tactic the WTS uses to avoid holding a judicial commitee is to ask the sinner if he wishes to disassociate, blurring the line between ones who wish to avoid judicial action and those who simply don't want to have anything to do with the JWs. We all know that everyone will find out through gossip if one was disfellowshipped or if he disassociated...and in the latter case they will conclude the person sinned and didn't want help from the elders.

I am new here and need help...or just a listening ear
by Fallingaway inmy husband and i have two small children, one of which recently became an unbaptised publisher and joined the school.
my husband is an elder and firmly committed to our family and loves me deeply as i love him.
i would like to find a way for all of us to fade away as we have family in the organization that we do not want to lose.

When I was growing up I was the "poster boy" who was in assembly dramas and interviews. I was a MS at 21 (married) and I had special privileges with a hearing impaired group...(no it's not me in the masturbation video). Prior the the elder arrangement I was assistant book study conductor and I would get a call to take any of the groups at a time when there was no fixed schedule for the book study...(remember those days when one group would finish their book and review for a few weeks to let other groups catch up). I was also the go-to guy to help pioneers learn a foreign language, help them move, fix their car...you know the drill. I never qualified as an elder...but I gave public talks and was a book study conductor and with time took care of all the different duties for a MS except for hall maintenance. Looking back I now realized that I worked at 2 jobs all my life but was only paid for one...

One experience in our old Kingdom Hall that still HAUNTS me
by Newly Enlightened inthe following is a true experience and my daughter gojira101 will verify that it happened to her.
an experience from our family's past that still haunts me and started my questioning whether this is the true organization of god or not.. my daughter, who has always been a good kid, never gave us any problems [she's an adult now] started regular pioneering.
within a few weeks of her starting, she fell on a steep hill and tore open her knee and had to have several stitches.

Welcome NE and G.
Elders are company man who act according to strict direction from the WTS. When there is no defined procedure they have to use their own "judgement"...and that's when the trouble starts...they have none because in most cases things are all thought out for all JWs.
We had the book study at our house and at the end the study the elder announced that the group would move to another location without warning us ahead of time. My wife started crying and left the room and I went behind her with our children. Some of the friends came upstairs after us and were shocked that we weren't told before nor given a reason. Later that night the elder called and asked if he could come by the following night to explain. I said he could and when he arrived I didn't invite him in...he told us that I didn't join them for service every Saturday morning and that was setting a bad example...he knew my work situation had changed and that I went out during the week when I knew I wasn't going to be able to join them on a Saturday. He didn't apologize for his rudeness and I asked him if he was done...he said yes, so I closed the door in his face. By the way our new group was meeting at his house...

Does an "all knowing" God have the leisure of choosing not to know something?
by wannabefree inthis concept just always caused a conflict in my mind.
i can remove the idea of predestination with knowing something in advance, why would the watch tower insist that god chooses not to know something?
is that even possible for god?

Just think of this - you know that your best friend is in grave danger of losing his life and you have the possibility to save him: how do you decide "not to know" and how could you live with yourself for letting him die when you could have saved him? Sickning isn't it? If God is almighty and forknows everything, what good does this do if he doesn't exercise his powers...I am a brain surgeon but I chose to fix cars...what good does that do for those who need brain surgery?
