My son, wife and 2 children live in our house and we are really happy to see our grandchildren everyday. We got married in 73 and had our first child in 76...some relatives didn't attend our wedding because the end was so near and we should have waited...then 2 kids...I don't know how life would be without our family.

From yesterday WT, don't have kids and if you do then don't see them often nor the grandkids either
by purrpurr inunbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.

Will Bro. Rogers be DF'd posthumously for drug addiction?
by ShirleyW insome have been df'd for suspicion of smoking cigarettes, yet bro.
rogers death is because of an addiction, fentanyl is what they are saying is the drug that did him in which was reported on the news as being more potent than heroine.
why is it that some nosy sister can report you because someone who looked like you was in the parking lot the same time as she was, yet bro.

I 've never heard of anyone ever being disfellowshipped posthumously...Prince is dead and his sins are forgiven...if that's what you believe as a JW.

Which Public Talks did you enjoy giving/hearing? And which ones did you dislike giving or hearing?
by humblepotato ini was just going through some of my talk outlines and i've decided to git rid of quite a few of them.
i'm still serving, but as time goes on... there are many subjects i will not teach anymore.. i got rid of the outlines dealing with blood, the field ministry, and ones talking about 607 and 1914. i can barely stand hearing them let alone give them.
in fact, talk 41 "stand still and see the salvation of jehovah" is one i got rid of because its whole point was about having blind obedience toward the gb and the elders during the great tribulation, and that we need to start practicing obedience now if we want to survive.

I had a collection of 6 or 7 talks and then I moved to different language congregation and it took me years to qualify for giving talks...research for more recent statistics on earthquakes opened the floodgates. I saw how the WT used partial quotes or even misquoted sources to support their false claims...I believe the talk was special talk #105..I gave the talk locally and once in a neighbouring congregation...I was scheduled to give it again but I just couldn't so I resigned as a MS and faded away.

Dutch branch refuses to meet with LGBT rights organization.
by Anders Andersen inin the wake of the anti-gay cartoon, the coc (dutch lgbt rights organization) invited watchtower netherlands to discuss how watchtower is dealing with lgbt people in their ranks.
focus of the meeting would be on making sure lgbt jw feel safe and fully accepted.. today several newspapers are reporting that the branch declined the invitation, stating that they 'can't imagine lgbt jw feeling unsafe.
the branch won't talk to coc, but they might discuss internally with lgbt jw.'.

The world's government and institutions are about to be replaced by God's kingdom and there will be no humans rights under this perfect theocracy. You do what you're told or you disappear. All it took Adam and Eve was to eat fruit...LGBT will not exist when humans are perfect nor will anyone need rights because they will naturally submit to the laws of their creator. Doesn't it all make sense? I just can't wait until that time. SHOOT ME KNOW!

A Comment by Lieu Made It Obvious That I Could Not Be A JW in 2016
by TMS inthe following comment by lieu on another topic shows me that i would be totally frustrated, actually exasperated, stifled and depressed in the modern form of jwdom: "therein lies the real problem billy, no one is paying any attention at regular meetings let alone conventions.
it's too boring, intentionally i think.
humans aren't hardwired to sit through hours of lecture with no interactions.

Today all the WT needs is a handful of "charismatic" speakers in front of a camera linked to the TV monitors found in the kingdom halls. To JWs a talk directly from a GB member holds much more weight than anything a local elder can say. JWs have been conditioned for more than a century to believe that the FDS class is God's way to direct them and now these appointed men can speak to you directly...what an awesome privilege to hear the message almost from God's mouth!

Wasn't there a Year Book experience about the brothers not being able to acquire sand to make a cement slab for their Kingdom Hall and a torrential rain washed down a whole pile of sand from the lot of the local church where brothers previous ask the priest if they could have it but were refused? -

A few months ago I sat in on a lecture given by Clint Malarchuk, the National Hockey goaltender who almost died on the ice when his jugular was sliced by a skate. Later in life he self medicated because his PTSD was never treated and he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the chin. He talked about A.C.T. = Accept your situation, Change what makes you miserable or Trash it all and start over. I related perfectly to his message. Had I continued as a JW I would have committed suicide. I could not longer accept wasting the little time I have, couldn't change anything within the cult, so I trashed it all including my belief in God. This man's story was one that deeply touched me. He wrote a book that I will be purchasing soon.

In 2009 I got a voucher for a free ticket at McDonald's and I almost threw it away when I discarded the waste from the meal. Then I decided to get the ticket that I left in my car's glove box. Months later I found the ticket with my fuel receipts as I was tracking down my business expenses. I checked the numbers on the lottery's website and I had a winner - $50K. As a good JW I checked in the publications to see if I could accept the prize. Older WT said it was OK since I didn't really wager any money to get the ticket but more recent WT articles said that the money was dirty because it is raised through a practice that displeases God. It was likened to accepting a gift of diamonds knowing that they were stolen. I struggled for a while before claiming the prize. What made my mind up was the fact JW will accept blood fractions knowing these are acquired through a practice forbidden by God...blood donation. After claiming the prize my wife and I never told anyone including our kids...until a few years after I faded away from the cult.

Nice weather this weekend. Made me think.....
by punkofnice inthere was a time when as a family, we'd host a bbq in our large back garden.
we'd have a small gazebo, tables and chairs.
the reggae music would be pumping out but not too loud.

Hey Punky we had "friends" over at our place every weekend. Then I stopped going to the meetings and we no longer have visitors. My wife does her socializing at the meetings or in field service and I have friends at work or through my sporting activities. Except for yesterday when an old friend from decades ago gave the talk at the local K hall. My wife asked if we could have them over for lunch which I agreed to. They were very nice but all the reminiscing memories were linked to the cult or to the great work that is left to be done. I listened silently and smiled...these people live in a completely different dimension. There were no mention of doctrines, just talk about how busy they are growing their foreign language group. Although I was glad to see them, I found that I no longer have anything in common with them and I am no longer living in the past...

Where did Jehovah go ?
by Deleteandrestart infor the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.
so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years, including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".
the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

I can no longer believe in anything that requires having faith. The Bible's description of faith as being the firm expectation of realities that cannot be seen is an oxymoron. It is as stupid as Stephen Lett's claim that there's more evidence that Chris has been in power for the last 100 years than for the existence of electricity, gravity and wind. I'm at peace with the fact that I will grow old and die like every other human that ever lived and I no longer have to slave for anything or anyone in the hope of attaining an afterlife. Sadly I came to that realization after I turned 50 years old. Still every minute of living life free from the cult is better than the 50 years of group conformity for the sake being united in the "true worship" of a non existant deity. Even worse if he exists, this diety is the epitome of cruelty if he can watch what goes on in this world without raising his almighty finger to help.
