I was thinking that after a DC, the CO's visit, elder school or WT article on specific matters elders have this guilty feeling of not doing enough to help the weak...or they get a zealous rush to settle matters. Last spring they came to visit while my wife was "conveniently" away for the day...I didn't let them in and asked them to just leave me alone. I know that this can only last for a while especially when my unbaptized son is also missing a lot of meetings...only his newly baptized wife and children now attend meetings. They may think that I am a bad influence on my family...

I have the exact same feeling. I feel resentment every time I drive past a KH and I want to do as little with my former "brothers". Some of the friends I used to see at the KH and socially have come to help us move to our new house. Since my wife still attends the meetings, they found out about the move and they offered to help. I really appreciate their help but I know why they are doing it. They are all hoping that I come back to the meetings. At first I felt guilt because I am not going back and they are wasting their time. But after thinking of all the times I helped them I simply see their help as them paying me back for all the favors. CoCo I just don't know how you can do it...It's been 15 months for me to and I just wouldn't be able to take the fake welcome...we are so happy to see you...we missed you...blablabla...quelle merde!

it's clear that virtually everyone on here is infuriated by wt teachings/doctrines/practices, but i would really like to know what is of most concern to people who frequent this forum.. here is my top 5, number 1 being the most significant/infuriating:.

All the things you are allowed to do but can't because it would stumble others...how you dress and groom, the type of car you drive, where and what you do during your vacation and the rules they call "principles" because it makes you feel like you made the decision when in fact we all know who decides everything for you...including what goes on behind bedroom doors.

i am not a jw nor have i ever been one, but i joined this forum because a close firend of mine is.. we met and became good friends in the senior year of high school, and i didn't know what it meant to be a jw at the time, all i knew was that they were another christian denomination so i let it slide.. .
it was only after sometime after graduation that i began to really take my faith seriousely, and in the process i decided to do some research on watchtower beliefs, and i was actually scared for her.
now i knew enough by now that if i tried to confornt her on this issue, that would be the last i heard of her so i tried as best i could to not "blaspheme".
If you know your Bible a little bit, it's like the Jews (chosen ones) and the Samaritans...you are of the second class to her and unless you convert to her faith. you will never be good enough. In fact you would be considered as a threat because you could influence her in leaving the cult...She is constantly being told that bad company (you) spoil useful habit.

I was thinking the exact same thing last night when someone "did not request" a certain book...Some of the information opened my eyes and my mind and it help me decide to exiting the WT...and I am grateful she took those risks to help people she only knows by pseudonym.

in the latest kool-aid edition (november 15th), there's an insert on page 22 entitled "ways in which some choose to give".
in this short (less than 2 page) article, the word "death" appears no less than 3, count 'em, 3 times.
"payable on death", "transfer on death", and "bequest at death" are all mentioned.. .
I used to do the accounts and an older sister feeling sick and thinking her time was done called me to the side saying she wanted to give all of her money to the WT...I went to her house with an elder and because her son lived upstairs she asked us to speak quietly because she was affraid he would find out her intentions...can you believe anyone giving their money to a RICH corporation and not to your children when you die? The amount was the equivalent of a year's salary for a middle management position. Fortunately the elder who was with me reasoned with her and convinced her to make her donation conditional...that if she comes to need the money she could have it back. Still the WT will keep that money when she dies and no one in her family will ever find out...Sad insn't it?
