A few years back an elder, his wife, my wife and I drank the wine used for the celebration...it was a good bottle but one glass had to be discarded because a "weirdo" we had never seen at the KHall decided to partake...I guess he is one of these "emotionally disturbed" partakers of late. I didn't have any feelings regarding this wine, but the other couple was kind of making a big deal out of this. I guess they had bought the bottle and were anticipating tasting it. Cheese and crackers accompanied the wine...

How did/does your congregation view going out to eat AFTER the Memorial?
by OneDayillBeFree infor us it used to be a big no-no, but i think it has slowly grown more acceptable since many of our elders would be starving during the whole reject jesus party.... i always thought it was a bit funny when i saw brothers and sisters almost celebrating with a big feast and drinks on the night that the good ol' messiah sacrificed himself for all humankind!
it seems now more recently that since it is the only thing witnessess can celebrate, they go all out!
maybe i'll join in the festivities too.. so what about you guys?

CoCo,
When I was a teenager I used to hang around with some kids from the neighbourhood and we all owned motorcycles...the most popular was the Kawasaki 350, while mine was a Honda CB350 - 1972....On some afternoons we would meet up a one of the guy's home and the boys would all smoke pot - except for me because I was a good JW boy - and we would listen to the whole Dark Side Of The Moon Pink Floyd album...I guess some of that second hand smoke made me a little mellow, while all of my buddies would lie on the living room carpet soaking it all...One day the boy's mother came home early and she kicked us out of her house...in those days 18 year old boys still feared their parents! That was the end of our Pink Floyd experience in that house anyways....

Emblem stupidity, and the bizarre dance of the confused memorial-taker
by cedars inwell, i went along to the memorial with mrs cedars.
it was my first since my "awakening" just less than a year ago.
apparently i made a lot of people happy by being there (even if it was only building up false hopes), the most important of which were my family.

Cedars,
My wife mentioned the Memorial for the first time today...but she did not dare to ask if I was going....I acted surprised and told her that the Jewish passover was tomorrow...so my son said "well the days started after sundown...", so I replied that I meant Friday after sundown...I should know since I there is a Jewish girl at work who strickly observes jewish celebrations...So I told my wife that Jesus would have ate passover tomorrow night and not tonight...Her reply was "well Memorial is tonight!" I hope she and my son think about it when the speaker says that Jesus ate his last passover this very same night so many years ago...JW "scholars" must know better about jewish holidays than the jews themselves...

I remember that those who passed the emblems had to arrive earlier so they could rehearse the process passing the wine and the bread to each other....so after having passed the emblems to the audience, the wine glasses and dishes were placed back on the table set on the platform, then the speaker would pick up the emblem and hand it off to the first server sitting in the front row, then he would rush to the end of the row and sit waiting to receive the emblem...Like in NFL football, a poor hand-off resulted in confusion and a failed play to the amusement of some of us...

Are You Ready for The Memorial?
by OnTheWayOut init's this week, folks.
i thought i might give you a new thread to vent on.
many on our forum still go to the memorial or have to answer to family about not going.

On another note I was thinking: How would have Jesus reacted if some of his disciples would have passed on the offer of wine and bread thinking that they were not worthy or that would snob his offer? Or can you image Jesus saying to some who attended that they were not invited to partake of the emblems, that they are not invited to be part of the kingdom?

My wife mentioned the Memorial for the first time today! She didn't ask if I was going, she only said that she was going...My son was around so I said innocently: "I work with a Jewish girl and she told me Passover starts on Friday night", to which my son replied: "the day starts after sundown" to which I replied: "Jewish passover starts after sundown on Friday so Jesus would have celebrated Passover on Friday night and not tonight"...big silence, then my wife said: "Well the Memorial is tonight!" My only comment was: "I don't really care on which night the Memorial is, I just know that the Jewish Passover Jesus celebrated falls on Friday and not tonight".
I had hope that my comment would have them question why the Memorial is celebrated a day before the Jewish Passover...and question why the speaker will say that on this night some many years ago Jesus ate his last Passover meal with his disciples...but I guess the WT "scholars" must know better than the Jews when Passover is celebrated!

well i have not gone preaching or to any meeting for two months after that and did not recieve any phone call from the elders, which was fine by me .

The peace in the worldwide brotherhood. Proof that it's gods organization?
by BreathoftheIndianNose inand things are within a week or two of being d.a.ed/d.f.ed, and my jw best friend sent me an email to check how i was doing.
i was fairly sure that he was very much on the edge of leaving to, or at least that he didn't believe it for a long time.
so i sent him an email in reply and told him basically everything i believed and the reasons i knew jws are not the true religion, and i also told him i was leaving.

JW learn to submit to their leaders - religious, secular and governmental. JW don't protest, have no political opionions and they act in uniformity...Not fighting and tolerating others annoying traits doesn't equate to true peace and love...If they were free to speak their mind all this "peace" would vanish...and we would be no different then normal people.
