Like others said the WT is a product of darwinian evolution.
A memeplex under evolution forces.
Evolution can create an illusory sense of design but it's totally blind.
Now it's just an Ouroboros.
Jgnat has a point about the food triangle in WT: GB+Doctrines+R&F. It's a trinity, you can't speak of one without mention the others.
Surely there's a lot of individuals who benefits directly from the WT, both high ranks and locals, but there's no man-behind-the-curtains.

I saw a trolley (cart to you cousins in the U.S.A.)
by punkofnice inyes.. peterborough city center u.k. ''what does the bible really teach'' displayed on it.. a family of 3 i know were sitting on the bench just behind it.
i'm not going to say anything derogatory about them as they are nice folks even if they have to shun me now i bear no malice.. as predicted not a single person was paying any attention as they walked by.
i noticed some other canvassers (non religious), were actively approaching people and handing out leaflets.. on the market i saw the jw charity stall and again not a single soul was interested or even near it.. i'm glad this 'urgent never to be repeated work(tm)' is being vigorously carried out by god's chosen people.

Here in Brazil they're everywhere with those carts (in portuguese we call them "carrinhos" wich literally means "little cars").
Every video or pic I see of those carts (everywhere in the world) I noticed they all looks the same.
I can bet the WT are selling these carts to the JW's!
Now the WT has a new business: selling trolleys!
Anyone knows something more about it?

You know, I recently believed that Jesus was a cool guy....
by Muddy Waters inafter leaving the jdub world, for awhile it still seemed like the bible was still a holy book, something valuable, worthy, etc., and that the jw religion had just corrupted it and used it to their own ends.. i thought that jesus was like a bhudda, a guy going around taking about peace and love and who exposed the hypocrisy of the religious leaders.. .
but he also said some hurtful things, harmful things, things like dividing up your family, things like whoever had more affection for their family than for him was not worthy of him, to not take time to bury your father but go preaching instead... to send out his followers without any food for the day but to rely on the kindness of others and believe that that kindness and charity expressed gods blessing and favour.... bah!.
i now believe jesus was just another man, saying both good things and stupid things.

It's very easy to do pure evil in the name of Jesus basead on his teachings.
Now try to think if someone can build a WT basead on Buddha's teaching or Confucio?
That fact alone speaks volumes about the credibility of Jesus as a "cool guy".

Just facts:
Jesus teached how to treat a slave and not how to abolish slavery.
Jesus said if you want to be neutral to him you are an enemy.
He used very screwed illustrations like cannibalism and self injury.
He used hell of eternal fire as coersion.

Is belief in heaven after death relatively new to Christianity?
by EndofMysteries ini was surprised awhile ago when researching about cremation how until maybe 1940's or 1950's even catholics forbid cremation.
the reason for no cremation was because they believed in a physical resurrection and cremation was a rejection of physical resurrection.
it seems nowadays no christians believe in a earthly resurrection, only that they all go to heaven.

There's no such thing as life on a paradise earth in the bible.
The bible says the earth will be burned.
And another one will be created in a glorified form.

Mainstream christians believe in a physical ressurection when the souls will be reunited with the flesh to the last judgment in the last day.
After that they bodies will be modified to be imperishable and they will go to heaven or hell with the glorified body, as Jesus did.
They quote a verse from Job that says something like "these very eyes and not others will see the judgment".
They believe the very same dust from your deceased body will came back to life.
It's a vestiginal egyptian belief that survived in christianism.
WT misuses some texts about the flesh ressurection.

Here's a quote from Wittgenstein that agrees with my view:
“Death is not an event in life: we do not live to experience death. If we take eternity to mean not infinite temporal duration but timelessness, then eternal life belongs to those who live in the present. Our life has no end in the way in which our visual field has no limits.”

@Punk: But if you does not experience death, how could you know when you pass through it? If this hypothesis is correct you are always dying and slipping to other universes. Even in this universe we cannot be sure when our consciousness started. When we look back to our conscious life we just see a lot of noise. It's just like a game architect sets the background as a dangling carrot around the player, you always see the background but it moves at same rate as you move. Subjectively speaking your consciousness "start" does not matches with your birth. Same thing when you think about your death, if you pay attention your birth is just a weird event as your future death. You just can talk about your birth and your death as a third person event. That's exactly how a game background works, just to give you an illusion of perspective to a specific level (or universe). It does not matter where you came from or where you going, just interact with the things inside your reach. Same thing happens in our dreams too, we always start in a dream doing something, in my case I usually start in a dream in walking mode. But in dreams we are more interested in the instant action, rarely we stop to think from where we came from or to where we'll go. Try to emulate this mindset to your waking life and you'll enjoy a very good life.
@EOM: We could slip to a universe where the old age was eradicated just in time to you get the cure.
Travel in time in one universe seems to be pretty impossible. But we can travel back or forward by slipping into a universe identical to this one, but with a different time frame. So we can travel in time by travelling through universes. I tend to be sympathetic with the hypothesis of memory being a kind of mind travel through universes.
And for those who think is impossible to exist such vast number of universes, there's a hypothesis that says just a lonely electron can produce an entire universe. Search about one-electron universe.
