I've spoken to the Elders in my congregation about 1914 before. They just make you read the same old scripture "But master, who really is the faithful and discreet slave" And then they make you feel guilty for your doubts in the governing body, lastly they just say "the light gets brighter" and send you on your merry way...

My Letter To the Watchtower
by AiAi inthis is an exact copy of my letter to the watchtower.
it never recieved a reply (i did not include 'attn writing committee' in the address however).
please keep in mind that when i wrote this i had just started my intensive research into their beliefs/history, and despite my agressive tone i really did expect a satisfactory answer.

'What about China? What about Saudi Arabia? How many Witnesses preach in India or Iran or Iraq?'
Mary, I've always said the same thing! They are so self congratulatory about all those "lands" but they ignore billions of people in banned countries. Some Witnesses even say that China or India doesn't matter because the Apostles didn't even finish the enitire circuit of cities! Can you believe the that, they don't really mind justifying the death of billions, so they can get to paradise a bit quicker.

Is there a biblical 1914?
by AiAi ini have noticed that people that hold no faith in the bible can easily find reasons not to believe it is god's word.
likewise, i have found that when one does hold faith in the bible they can continue to believe it against any contrary evidence.
the torah not being written by moses is not a big deal to some, neither are the two creation accounts in genises.

Daniel 4 - no Second Fulfilment
Every single prophecy in Daniel had only one fulfilment, yet the Watchtower claims Daniel 4:9-32 should have two fulfilments.
- Daniel 2: An immense image representing kingdoms
- Daniel 4: Seven times representing Nebuchadnezzar
- Daniel 5: Writing on the wall foretelling Babylon's immediate destruction
- Daniel 7: Four beasts being 4 world powers
- Daniel 9: Seventy weeks foreshadowing Christ's arrival
- Daniel 11: Kings of the North and South
Why would Daniel 4 have a second fulfilment when all other prophecies had but one fulfilment?
The right hand menu contains the passage from Daniel 4. This prophesies that Nebuchadnezzar would act as a beast for 7 years. It takes a significant imagination to deduce that Daniel 4 points to our time. There is no reference to a second fulfilment, no reference to Gentile times, no reference to the Last Days and no reference to the Israelites. Despite this, the prophecy of the seven times is the lynch pin of the Watchtower belief structure and the only scripture that is used to indicate that Jesus started ruling specifically in the year 1914.
The current Watchtower understanding is that this prophecy signifies the end of God's rulership through the Jews in 607 B.C. The next 2,520 years were the Gentile Times of the Nations, until God re-established his Kingdom in heaven in 1914.
The interpretation goes as follows;- The cutting down of the tree represents the destruction of the Kingdom of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar in 607 B.C.
- The "seven times" constitute 2,520 years, 7 lunar years of 360 days each
- The principle of "a day for a year" converts 2520 days to 2520 years
- The 2520 years of the Gentile times ended in 1914, coinciding with the start of Jesus heavenly rulership
Even if Daniel 4 was to have a secondary fulfilment each point is based on misconceptions.

The 2nd Coming has already been proved to be a mistake
by Terry inwhile the whole world of christianity waits and longs for the 2nd advent of jesus because it will bring their reward.... jehovah's witness already had theirs!
they simply declared that "jesus is back!".
1914 was the date assigned.. true, jesus was invisible.. true, armageddon didn't come.. true, the world went on spinning as before.. but, 1914 was date certain and remains so.. instead, jehovah's witnesses starting treating armageddon the same way mainstream christianity treats the 2nd coming.. it's coming any minute!.

They are their own worst enemy, it is their undoing!
A crazy elder in my hall about 3 years ago found everyone on MySpace and sarcastically mentioned it (like MySpace was a dirty word...) to the 'guilty' parties. Anyways they are desperate for young men to 'take the lead', yet they make sure to tighten the grip so as much to alienate anyone who is normal or had a resemblance of an online social life. Those rules are their orgnaizational undoing. Any corporation that wants to survive in the business world must adapt to its customer base. The WT customer base is changing, the leadership is not. This is the end of the line.

Again the Society likes to build the Straw Man (ex: Cross vs Stake) and then tear it down on "Christendom". What they are really good at doing is polarizing any topic they believe to be "truth" and then create a crowd of fanatically charged up preachers build a divide between their religion and other religions. This is a clever tactic that really serves to reinforce the cult.

Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inyou'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

Speaking of the no beards rule...
I was out on a long vacation and grew a beard and wore it to the KH. After a few meetings with it, the PO came up to me with a printout and said facial hair wasn't allowed. He snickered and actually said he didn't agree and would like a beard of his own. I sat down to read the article he gave me and I believe it was dated 1968 about a brother with a beard that called on a woman in field ministry and she thought the man was a student protester. THIS! flimsy report is the entire reason the society has for banning facial hair for over 40 years. I asked the elders why a mustache was ok. They laughed and said, "it's just the way things are"....

1/1/11 WT Using One Myth to Support Another
by WalkTall ini thought this was pretty hysterical and something that i would have never noticed before i woke up.
in the jan 1 wt under the heading 'was the garden of eden a real place?
part of the reasoning they use as to why no one could find the garden of eden even though there are specifics in genesis identifying it's location is because "the flood of noah's day may have altered the topography in ways that we simply cannot know today".

I recently travelled to New Zealand. There was a huge Ostrich like bird there called the Moa, only found in New Zealand. The Moa and it's species are all extinct in the last few hundred years. The Moa is 12 feet tall and flightless. If there was a global flood in Noah's day then how did the Moa get to New Zealand? Did Noah drop off all the exclusive species on all the world's islands? No. I don't think the WT study can answer things like that, neither can the elders. The only use mystic methods, and that's not good enough for me.

Greetings to All, No Longer Lurking
by Franklin Massey inclaustrophobic.
that's the simplest way for me to express how i feel in the wt org.
like many here, my eyes were slowly opened over the years as i did more earnest research, trying to reconcile some long standing spiritual quandaries.

I was the same way Franklin. There was so much missing from the JW org. With me it started with the awful people and their pressure cooker competition. Then I found out about Silent Lambs.com, I was appalled! Quite soon after Silent Lambs my friend was telling me about all the holes in the 1914 theory, I couldn't even believe I had swallowed that crazy doctrine for so long! Shortly after I reseached JW facts.com then ordered Ray Franz's book. That was the end for me, what a corrupt and awful religion! I still remember my last meeting, I got this horrible knot in my chest during the WT study and ran to the bathroom (the study was about secretly telling on your brothers/sisters for wanting a worldy relationship) I was creeped out and almost called a cab to take me outta there!
Long story short; Repair your self esteem by forming your OWN Goals, OWN Values!
Best to you!
