i was out on the ministry(tm) in the 1980's when i was pie-on-earring.

i was only a lowly publisher(tm) being coached by a rather odd elder(tm).. one of the publications(tm) had recently mentioned japan and the growth(tm) of jws there.. the elder(tm), brother(tm) i was with offered the magazines(tm) to the householder(tm).. then he stated, 'there are (gave the reported numbers at the time.

i can't remember the number he stated), jehovah's witnesses(tm) in japan.'.

I noticed some of my "brothers" and "sisters" lacked that sincerity. They either were there just to count time, to win arguments, or because they felt forced to. Some almost treated it like war. Us vs them.

Yes. I'd forgotten about that.

One Jobot used to try to use phrases from the New ~~Fake~~ World Translation. He haughtily said to a vicar with whom he was arguing (as you say above), 'You yourself have said it.'(tm). Not long after, that same Brother(tm) was imprisoned for being a nonce.

A very astute observation. The Watchtower Corporation(tm) is just a big business masquerading as a religion. A sickening pyramid scheme.

he most embarrassing thing for me was--public prayer.

As an Elder(tm) I loathed doing this. Also, when I had to introduce the Kingdom Songs(tm) I say something like, 'Now we sing the rousing song....' but in my head I thought 'another tuneless load of rubbish.' Even as a fully hypnotised JW(tm), I thought the songs were written by talentless hacks. I'd go home an put on some Punk rock to get the drone out of my mind.
