Thanks I80. This the sort of thing I am looking for. I am interested in views of this. I can give my lad different things that are thought.
Thanks Unky Punky
full disclosure, i am an atheist/slight agnostic and really don't believe in god/s.. however, i do find solace in a good evensong at the cathedral.
because one of my kids came with me, it has inspired him to become a christian and hence got baptised in a uk high church (anglican cum catholic hybrid).. so, i take him to visit different places eg, ely cathedral.
he likes me to accompany him to his new church.

i used to have a large-ish novel collection but my current collection is scaled-down because i was forced to move back to bolton 4 years ago and didn't have enough room for them all in my suitcases.. i currently own just 9 novels.. salem's lot (stephen king).
three by john ajvide lindqvist:.
let the old dreams die.
LUHE - Our teacher read the Silver Sword by Ian Seraillier when we were in Junior school. I still have a copy.
He also read us Fin Family Moomintroll stories and Ellidor by what's his face.
Not all copies of Dracula have the original introduction which is a shame, it's a great part of the story.

LUHE - I bought Dracula the other day
This is one I read periodically over the years. I love the writing style but imagine Christopher Lee as Vlad Dracul.
Probably one of the few novels I'll entertain.
If I'm honest, I prefer graphic novels or comic collections. I love the old TV21 strips. Judge Dredd from the 1980's 2000AD comics. V for Vendetta and Watchmen.

We got to discuss the 2nd coming and tried to give a typical church view to see if he agreed.
Long story short, I don't think there will be one but I am genuinely interested in what my believing friends on here think it will be and what it'll look like - and why.
This isn't a trap. I'm not here to argue, just present different views or the one view to him to see what he thinks and how it squares with High Church.
PM me if you don't want to get into it here.
the situation is many of us are pima and all putting on a front, sometimes saying something we don’t fully believe.
or at least are actually agnostic about but a hope that it’s true.. but it can be useful if someone is really going through a hard time or has something they are very worried about, to say things like well let’s hope there is not much longer of this old system.. this can be useful in an awkward situation where you just don’t know what to do or say.
it’s a little bit of hope that can help when there is nothing else.. my agnosticism just means i won’t look back over decades thinking i wasted my life.
LUHE - I kinda hope there is an afterlife.
So do I being honest. As long as it isn't like this one but a good place.
PIMO, POMO whatever, I have some friends that became HOMO.
nuffy - better to have hope IMO.
I totally get that and do tend to agree. I just don't want to kid myself and waste any more time with empty dreams like I did as a Jobot.
As far as evolvey-lution goes...it matters not a jot to me because I have to deal with the present. Wondering about the past doesn't pay the bleedin' gas bill.

Looks like you're searching, ExBe
If you believe in evolution there is no possible hope at all everything is pointless and without purpose.
Perhaps there isn't one. Just because we want one, doesn't mean there has to be a point.
Just like there's no point being a JW(tm), it'll end in nothing.
that’s where I’m at. Better off PIMA than POMA or POMO.
Better than being any, just be yourself.
I'm POMN
Physically Out, Mentally Nihilist.
Our struggles are within our own head.
i saw this post on ex-jw reddit so i thought i'd bring here.
zoom service, what are your observations/opinions of it?.
XB - a group of JWs sitting around "writing letters"
I have heard of this.
............and they use all their own money because the Organisation(tm) won't pay for a single thing.
Well, what do you expect from a greedy, corrupt Corporation(tm) that pretends to be a religion to get money?

I don't go on Reddit or any other forums, so I won't see it.
I know what JW 'Ministry(tm)' is. I know what Zoom(tm) is.
I can't see it for '1st call(tm)' work(tm). I suppose it's a lazy option or useful to the cult if there is a fair distance between the 'householder(tm)' and the 'publisher(tm)'.
Door knocking has proven to bear poor results per hour, per victim dragged in to the cult. I can't see how Zoom would be any better. But at least you can sit there with no trousers on, I guess.
I can't quite envision it TBH.
we're you regular at the 3 meetings days watchtower hade?
i remember our was tuesday, thursdays and saturdays.
in reality it's crazy they hade so many meetings.
We're you regular at all the meetings?
Yes. It was hell.
the belief was jehovah/god is not the organisation when you are a member of the organisation .
when you disassociate or leave the organisation, the belief becomes jehovah/god is the organisation.
someone somewhere will tell you return to jehovah or hand you a publication that has the title return to jehovah.. .
The terms become whatever suit the corrupt agenda best.
It is, after all, just a big business pretending to be a religion to get power and money for the Governing Body(tm)(Pee be upon them).
The leaders must know it's not a religion but a business using a fake version of the Bible to kid the masses. They just must!
