I haven't commented on this thread because I don't tend to watch ex-Jobot stuff on youpube or read stuff anywhere other than here. I've really moved on in many respects.

However, Mr Evans turned up as a suggestion when I put youpube on to look for music.

I had a quick gander and good grief!!

I was confronted by a strange cartoony character I'd expect as a baddie on Dr Who. He was basically on the grift in my opinion. I turned it off and watched some 1980's motorbike being restored instead. It put me off watching a concert....put me off my dinner too.

full disclosure, i am an atheist/slight agnostic and really don't believe in god/s.. however, i do find solace in a good evensong at the cathedral.

because one of my kids came with me, it has inspired him to become a christian and hence got baptised in a uk high church (anglican cum catholic hybrid).. so, i take him to visit different places eg, ely cathedral.

he likes me to accompany him to his new church.

Sadly, I brought him up in the filthy, disgusting cult. Yes. He finds fellowship with St Paul's High Church actually quite genuine unlike the Corporation(tm) fake love. They all like me too, even though they know I'm mainly atheist/ slightly agnostic. I've had some interesting conversations with Rev Ron and his Missus.....I was very polite when expressing my views. They all seem to think the Corporation(tm) has ruined my mind.................it has.

Yes. Speculating. We could leave it at that. However, with the dream of Biblical bliss, many seem to be looking for a 'sign' in their own life time. So far, all went unfulfilled.

TBH. You can connect anything to a Bible statement and make it fit your preferred narrative.

Why not use the Quran or another so called 'Holy book'. These 'religionists(tm)' are all at it. Seeing fulfilment of 'prophecy' where there is none.

the situation is many of us are pima and all putting on a front, sometimes saying something we don’t fully believe.

or at least are actually agnostic about but a hope that it’s true.. but it can be useful if someone is really going through a hard time or has something they are very worried about, to say things like well let’s hope there is not much longer of this old system.. this can be useful in an awkward situation where you just don’t know what to do or say.

it’s a little bit of hope that can help when there is nothing else.. my agnosticism just means i won’t look back over decades thinking i wasted my life.

Perhaps death is what gives life meaning.

If we lived forever, perhaps we would run out of things to do.

If we know death is coming, we fill or lives with meaningful stuff before the grim reaper comes.

What novels would you recommend?

i used to have a large-ish novel collection but my current collection is scaled-down because i was forced to move back to bolton 4 years ago and didn't have enough room for them all in my suitcases.. i currently own just 9 novels.. salem's lot (stephen king).

LUHE - Our teacher read the Silver Sword by Ian Seraillier when we were in Junior school. I still have a copy.

He also read us Fin Family Moomintroll stories and Ellidor by what's his face.

Not all copies of Dracula have the original introduction which is a shame, it's a great part of the story.

LUHE - I bought Dracula the other day

This is one I read periodically over the years. I love the writing style but imagine Christopher Lee as Vlad Dracul.

Probably one of the few novels I'll entertain.

If I'm honest, I prefer graphic novels or comic collections. I love the old TV21 strips. Judge Dredd from the 1980's 2000AD comics. V for Vendetta and Watchmen.

However, I do find solace in a good Evensong at the Cathedral. Because one of my kids came with me, it has inspired him to become a Christian and hence got baptised in a UK High Church (Anglican cum Catholic Hybrid).

So, I take him to visit different places EG, Ely Cathedral. He likes me to accompany him to his new church. Because I don't mind a service, a cup of char and a natter after, I go with him on occasion. I'm still atheist/agnostic.

We got to discuss the 2nd coming and tried to give a typical church view to see if he agreed.

Long story short, I don't think there will be one but I am genuinely interested in what my believing friends on here think it will be and what it'll look like - and why.

This isn't a trap. I'm not here to argue, just present different views or the one view to him to see what he thinks and how it squares with High Church.
