  Doubtful's Review of Special Day Assembly

  i hate assemblies.

  i can't stand the contrived, rehearsed, robotic sound of the interviews and experiences.

  i can't stand the repeated references to the fds, and i especially can't stand the college education bashing that seems to be thrown in there in just about every other talk.. here's my assesment of the assembly:.

  Do your elders care at all?

  i currently have an elder body who, for the most part, seems utterly complacent and disinterested in actually "shepherding" anything.

  i can't tell if they are lazy or just oblivious to their responsiblities of being "teachers".

  it seems like they are the last to know anything and always procrastinate on everything.

  I was the only elder that regularly shepherded all my group. They hated me for it.

  The COBE was simply a power tripper who had his suck ups. They only showed interest in the 'flock' when the equally powertripping CO visited.

  I'm so happified I'm out of it all.

  right now i am studying the book "what does the bible really teach".

  Hi, Kourtney, nice to cyber-meet you.

  I was in the JW's for over 40 years. I was a pioneer, Min Serv and Elder.

  I 'woke up' as it were a year ago after serving as an elder. I have seen how it all works behind the scenes and it is just a big business that puts money as a higher priority than your well being.

  Please be very careful sweetheart as it is easy to become a JW but then you will never be allowed to get out if you change your mind.

  what do you make of articles like this?

  "Minds must be cleansed" (Watchtower, June 1, 1953, p. 350 par. 24).

  What would you say ''Mind Cleansing'' is the same as?

  Anyone Here With an "Earthly Hope"?

  since the memorial is a little more than two weeks away, i thought i would raise this question, particularly for those of us who have left the organization.

  do you have what the wts calls the "earthly hope"?

  i know many ex-jws have renounced religion altogether and don't believe in any of these things.

  Right now, having only been out about 6 months I'm in a bit of a 'no man's land' and that's fine I'm not an unhappy 'apostate' without hope.

  The only 'earthly hope' I have in mid right now is being buried in it when I pop my clogs!
